i am never quite sure wether to be more thankful for Thanksgiving or The Fourthof July. Both are uniquely American and both are occasions in for me to reflect on how incredibly lucky I have been....
I was born on the day that the Second World War was effectively over - August the Sixth 1945- which was, of course the day the Big bomb got the Japanese to quit. The following 73 years have allowed me to bask in the joys of the prosperity, peace and plenty that we have enjoyed in our country that have been unmatched in any place, at anytime in the history of Mankind. Truly, a golden age.
My thanks to the political geniuses that created this incredible engine for prosperity and good almost bring me to tears of happiness sometimes.
On this particular Thanksgiving I am so Thankful to be with friends whom I will be cooking and sitting down with to a gluttonous repast of ham and turkey and way too many lovely sides. But, although I will certainly enjoy my gluttony, I want all of you to know how thankful I am for this community. I am proud of my knife designs and how many have found them useful but I often think that this forum and the friendships it has enabled and the knowledge it has shared eclipse whatever ‘stuff” I have created.
Please have a great and fine time with friends and family, eat a little too much and take the time to reflect on our countries’, great good luck and the friends we share.... Be safe and thank you for being here...
