The buck110 that i bought for my son arrived today and i have to say we where both suprised by the codura sheath that came with the knife. It is a lot better than we thought it would be the sheath is very thick and nicely padded so the knife can be carried in a safe manner. And the knife is the sharpest i have felt out of the box from any factory and the fit and finish is still really great for the price.

My son and myself wanted to say thank you to the staff at buck knives for makeing a knife that should last a life time that anybody can afford im not sure how you do it. As a custom knife maker i have made and seen a lot of knives in my life and i have to say that buck knives is still on the top of my list of knives to recommend from a factory i know that my son is very happy with his buck110 and should be for years to come. I also wanted to say thank you for allowing me to be able to carry on a family rights of passage you see when i turned 18 my father gave me a 110 and now i have been able to do the same for my son. I just hope that you will still be makeing the buck110 in 8 years so i can do the same for my daughter on her 18th birthday.

Once again thank you to the staff at buckknives

That's really cool, My own father passed away when I was only 9, I now have his Case and Queen knives he used on the farm put up. I hope your son enjoys and cherishes his new 110. BTW what was it, a stock 110 or something from the custom shop?

That's one thing about Buck that is so neat, they are a family tradition not only inside the company, but in the homes of their customers to!

im sorry to hear that you did not have much time with your father but you have something to remember him by. The buck i got for my son was a stock but it is going to joe for the bg42 blade swapas soon as the shop is up and running again.

You should be pleased with it when it comes back, I recently sent in a 1994 110 that someone had broken the blade, I had an ATS-34 blade put in and they put the ol' spit and polish on it so it looked new when I got it back.

with a pual bos heat treat do you think the bg42 or the ats34 would be a better blade to swap to

I honestly don't know, as of yet I haven't owned anything with BG42 so I don't know how good it is. I so far like the ATS-34 but I haven't used it enough to need sharpening yet. It came wicked sharp from Buck!

110 is da best! I share the same sentiment about how do Buck manage to make such a nice knife at such an affordable price. The retail price out there make it actually more economical to get a brand new one for replacement instead of fixing it, should u need to do it. Same thing holds true with Zippo lighters too.

I don't know the answer to that ? either, but another option to consider is the the Alaska Guide series from Cabela's. They offer the 110 with s30v (& Bos heat treated) At $59.95, it's alot of knife for the price.

BUCK is a great company and I enjoy stuffing my pockets with their knives.

i have seen the alaska series form cabela's and they are a nice knife but since i bought this for my son three day ago i think i would do the blade swap rather than buying a new knife for him but i may pick one up for myself.

OHHHH so your sons not good enough for two knives huh ? :p

If you look at the cost of the blade plus shipping your probably looking at 40+ for the blade swap and there might be a delay with the factory move. I dont know, they might leave their custom/repair shop up and running till the new one is ready. A phone call to buck should answer that though. Good luck Steven

Just checked cabelas for the 110 Alaskan guide and they are back ordered, just thinking about another thread were the knife can not be shipped to Canada hence not to alaska either.... http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=324063

my son has almost as many knives as i do the bugger so if he want any more he can pay for them himself as it is to costly to support his habit as well as mine :p as for cabelas shipping to canada this is crap in canada you can carry and own what ever size knife you what since they are not classed as weapons unless you use them to commit a crime so i guess they wont be getting any sales from me with that additude
