Got my package from the GAW Tex did...thanks to him, and Cap'n A's generosity, I has a new Condor 5'' Bushcrafter!

One thing I'd like to point out right off, I was VERY pleasantly surprised as soon as I pulled it out of the box...I admit that in internet pics the Condor seemed like a butcher knife with a leather sheath, but it is VERY substantial once it's actually ''in hand''! I like it, has a nice feel, the F&F are pretty good, the handle scales do have a couple low spots where the tang shows...but so small you have to be looking for them..the edge is very even, sharp all the way to the tip, although the polish on the bevels isn't the greatest....but it was shaving out of the box.
I know what they sell for, and I would NOT have a problem buying more at that price (or even 15% or so more)...a very solid, decent cutter for the money!

The sheath is pretty dang nice! heavy leather, great retention...surprisingly nice!

the OAL of the 16 and CB are almost identical...but there are some distinct differences.
The CB is 1075 high carbon, the 16 of course is 1095CV

100_1440.jpg

the 16 has more handle then the CB

100_1441.jpg

The CB's blade is longer then the 16's

100_1442.jpg

...but the cutting edge is the same length on both.

While the CB is solid...the 16 is noticeably quite a bit thicker.

yes class....the 16 DOES fit the CB sheath quite well! That's a nice bonus IMO.

I doubt it will ever look this way again, so take a good look lol
I think it will be a good knife for my youngest nephew....if I can manage to part with it (:D) I will customize it up for him, make it suit him.

I've always liked the looks of the Condor Bushcrafter, but have always felt that the edge doesn't go close enough to the handle. Always room there for a choil, I guess. I have also admired the Condor Hudson Bay.

This is an old model, they extended the grind all the way back now, same as the bushlore.

I agree. Let's see what kind of moddy goodness you can come up with for the Condor.

I like the looks of it, btw. I've had one sitting in my river store wishlist for months, but it'll have to wait until I get all of my Tweeners and my BK-7.

I won't choil a cutting edge..but the Condor is like the E-nep..lots of unsharpened real-estate between the edge and handle..a choil is in the future of this knife.
And some micarta I believe...my nephew Loves chunky handles....that's the reason he likes my 2, he liked it even better when I had liners on it! Odd, considering he doesn't have large hands yet (he's 15). And of course it'll get some kydex...just for more sheath/carry options.

Same, I'm starting to like a chunky handle after feeling the BK-2s...My hands are pretty small to but I'm like 15 aswell so yeah...

I've got a Condor Rodan and I love it. I've battoned some very twisty osage orange with it and it keeps on kicking. :)
Condor also has great customer service, I asked for a newer version sheath for my Rodan, and they sent me on in an urgent UPS package. They will always listen to your opinions on their knives and ask what you think could be better about them.

Condor rodan = skinny BK-2...Dont you think? :D

I have large, not huge but large, hands..and I prefer thin handles. I think the 2 is way too thick factory....I like the 9 factory, but my micarta on my 9 is slightly thinner then the factory grivory. And I prefer more squared slabs to the round type.

Part of it may be because I have large hands, thick and wide...and pretty fat fingers...but my fingers aren't very long. By the time a glove will fit my hands...the fingers are a lil long for me lol so that may explain why I like thinner handles. My nephew has slim hands...but longish fingers.

Sounds like we could be hand twins lol. I always have a tough time finding gloves with short fingers and big palms.

My nephews are Alex, Dexter and Austin....I affectionately refer to them as ''Lex, Dex and Tex'' so I reckon it's fitting that the Tex Condor goes to my ''Tex'' LOL

I have some Condors and they seem to be reasonable working blades. I was more interested in the spine shot of the 16 though. I sent some shinny pennies to my prefered vendor for a 16 pre-order. Should be shipped out on May 4th. I already know that this is going to be a good one....a very good one. I also admire the artistic imagination that people use when modifying their knives. But the biggest mistake that I've made on some of my Beckers was stripping them. I will never do that again.

My 16 is the pre-production, with a Sabre grind...so I'm not sure what the spine would look like compared to the production 16's FFG

may I ask why u regretted stripping the Beckers? I have had zero issues with mine so far.
