I kinda like them in Canada, Rob! Nice climate; Polar bears, igloos and the like ! :D
Vince and Amos got the more obvious relationship, but can anyone tell me who made them?? Are they Utica Cuts (Kutmaster), or Union Cuts (Ka-Bar)? I'm 99% sure they aren't Case, but I honestly don't know for sure; anyone know   ?

The heavily intertwined threads that make up the tapestry of American cutlery can be both the joy and the frustration of the vintage knife game. It is a fascinating glimpse of competition with cooperation. But to try and figure out who made what for who, where and when. YIKES! That's why many of us rely on you history and information ferrets who relentlessly run down these very long and windy paths to get just that bit of info.

Charlie, I hope someone comes along soon with some info. This looks to be quite interesting.

They were made by Utica. If you look at barlows that were actually made by Case, the tooling is much different. The KABAR surprises me because I have never seen a KABAR from that era that I could pin down as being outsourced. But Charlie's pictures tell the tale.

The Case barlow made by Utica has been documented in the early Dewey Furgeson knife books (look for the upside down CASE XX logo as you can see in Charlies scan).

Case outsourced some barlow and regular jack patterns to Utica, Camillus, and Ulster in the 50's to early 60's. These patterns were made in house at Caser too, adding to the confusion.

Thanks knifeaholic, for your experienced opinion! And it's a treat to be able to show you something new - -errr, old! You know what I mean!
Now I have to find some Dewey Furgeson books!

vely intelesting!:eek: It takes a community to raise a knifehead :D and I'm learning every day. Thanks guys for posting great information always.
