(Brick killed a guy.)

So, 10 days ago, I was considering my first Fiddleback Forge knife and rumaging through the FF/WAS/OKT/Fleming forums for ideas I'm what to get.

Well...

First was the Rustic Wrap Minimuk (Thanks, Panthera tigris!) which is an absolute home run for me. I love the shape, the handle, the weight, everything. This one is sticking around, and it has me looking for other Rustic Wraps.

The Fiddleback Bushcrafter Jr, Fleming Hunter, and Fleming B&T came in a sale/trade (thanks, wtlj!). The dyed burl is actually what got me to buy the package. I need to spend more time with these, but initial impression are:

- The BCJr is incredibly comfy to hold
- The Hunter feels a bit too long in the handle and the blade seems a bit to short
- The B&T would be an all time Top 5 contender for me it were TT or 3/32". The SFT 1/8" isn't heavy at all, I just wish it had a bit thicker handle slabs and a bit thinner stock.

I've got the G10 OK/T Warthog from this last OK/T sales thread heading my way, as well (thanks again, Panthera tigris!) I'm very much curious about the sandblasted G10 is in hand.

I told myself that I would start with a small knife, but I wound up aquiring 5 knives between 7-8". I definitely want to play with some sub-6.5" OAL knives now.

I'm very impressed with the GA makers so far, and I hope to acquire more in the future!

I'm sure many of you have picked up 2 or 3 or 4 or 15 too many at some point, let's see a picture of those extra hard attempts that result in too many knives!

Andy and Jarrett: you've provided incredible instruments. Passion, dedication, and talent are apparent, and I wish nothing but the best in the future.

Funny how that works. Once you start, the knives seem to multiply like a pack of gerbils feeding on Viagra and Ecstasy. Just wait until you figure out which models you really like, and start buying every single Bear Paw (or whatever) you see. 30 knives and 2 months later, you won't know what hit you. :)

So, you are off to a good start. My suggestion is that you need to add one each of Allen's (WA Surls), Dylan's (Fletcher Knives) and Chris's (Osprey K&T) knives to the mix. There is a common thread connecting all the members of the Fiddleback Family. However, each has a VERY distinct style. I think that most folks find one or two Fiddleback Family makers that they like more than the others...

One more thing - pictures or it did not happen. Post a lot of pics and post often.

Cheers, and welcome to the community.

Welcome to the fun. It can be addicting and you are of to a great start.

I'm with you, the hemp wraps are excellent and very fitting especially on the nessmuk models. I also like your Evergreen handled knives, I went a little crazy on knives with Shadetree when I was buying heavily and the greens (Evergreen and Emerald) are some of my favorites.

My first ever FF blade was a hemp wrapped minimuk. Now 60+ blades [in less than a year] later, all from Andy, Allen, Chris, and Jarrett Fleming,....well you get the picture! Welcome aboard!

Kentucky bourbon, Georgia Knives, and Florida football...

It is not an addiction in my case, rather as I do sell a knife occasionally I prefer to think of it as increasing my inventory. (Ok...last knife I sold was in 1982...but I am just waiting for a bull market) As a responsible retailer I feel it is my duty to be able to offer my customers as wide a choice as possible so I am continually adding to my inventory. However for the addicted I would suggest this 12 step program....let me know how it works out for ya!

1. We admitted we were powerless over knives and that our collections had become unmanageable.
2. Came to believe that a custom knifemaker could restore us to sanity.
3. Made a decision to turn our will and our Money over to the care of the Master Blade Smith as we understood Him.
4. Made a searching and fearless inventory of our wallets.
5. Admitted to the Master Blade Smith, to ourselves, and to another human being (often a wife) the exact nature of our needs and want.
6. Were entirely ready to have Master Blade Smith remove the contents of our wallets.
7. Humbly asked the MasterSmith to build the Knife of Knives for us.
8. Made a list of all persons we could brag to, and became willing to make show it to them all.
9. Made direct neener-neener-neener sounds to such people wherever possible, except when to do cause them to injure us.
10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we found a duplicate sold it off to fund the MasterSmith.
11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with the Master Blade Smith hoping his hammer would strike true and his forge would burn this addiction out with this one last knife.
12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we carry this knife with us to show off to other addicts in order to talk them into buying a custom as well and to swear to our loved one "This is the last knife...I promise!".

Hey! Thanks. Nice collection.

60+ in a year!? Wow! Have you posted up a full collection picture?

What's the knife in the bottom right?

That's a Gallardo, Odaon. I'll have to do a true count. But it was 51 before Christmas.

I must offer a sincere apology to Dylan of Fletcher Knives. I somehow got Fletcher and Fleming confused, and I'm now realizing this is not as Fiddleback Family centric of a post as I thought. I apologize Dylan!

Thanks for the responses everyone! You've all posted some gorgeous knives. Varga, I especially like your wrapped runt, Bushboot, and Surls knives!

I'm looking forward to the OK/T Warthog, and I'll be keeping an eye out for a Surls Revenant EDC or Sawnee, as well as Dylan's knives!

If I'm not mistaken, they're all one big family.

Dylan is like the old mean grandpa that yells at you for playing on the dirt pile. Andy is the out of town uncle that has a funny accent and cooks crawfish with the head and eyes still on it. Chris and Allen are like your cousins that sneak off to light illegal fireworks. J. Fleming is like your neighbor who owns a tractor and is always out and about in the barn with good work ethic. We are the indolent children that enjoy the fruits of their labor.

Technically I'm not part of the "family" or at the least I'm the black sheep :D I've never worked with or apprenticed under Andy. I am a member of the GA guild though and consider all of the FF crew to be good friends!

Oh no Douglas! Stop right there. Never, ever count them. Always store them in separate boxes of small batches and always add a fresh box from time to time

You make a beautiful knife! My wife, for the first time ever, called one of my knives "pretty", and it was your dyed burl B&T that she was talking about!
