You suddenly realize a scale screw backed out and you have no idea where it

But luckily for you it was just in the bottom corner of your pocket.

I was doing some last minute Christmas shopping at our local Ross, and I noticed a loose thread on my jacket. So immediately I whipped out my trusty Sheepdog to take care of it. Upon closing it I noticed the missing screw. All the questions started popping up, "was it gone for a while and I just didn't notice", "did it come out on the bus, or in the car". I honestly just didn't want to deal with paying Kizer for a new set of hardware just for one screw.

But I got lucky and it was in my pocket. I know the knife fell off of my dresser about 3 weeks ago, so I'm guessing that knocked the Loctite loose.

This was just a little event that I wanted to share. What are some of your "oh crap" moments when you go to use your knives?

That would make me insane. I’m very ... particular (? - probably neurotic) about maintaining my favorite things. When I fell so hard for the Keen, I opted to get a second in case of disaster. Same with my Wenger Esquire (had to get a Vic Classic as the emergency back up).

Had a similar experience when I disassembled the (somewhat finnicky) Reate Crossroads, dropped the lanyard pin and took me 10 minutes to find since it bounced halfway underneath the sofa. Big sigh of relief, otherwise it would have driven me nuts not being able to install it again :D

A Kizer eh? Interesting. A few hours after I bought a Sliver, I was playing with it and felt something loose against the palm of my hand. I looked down and a screw was sticking out of the handle. I was able to just pull it out and then proceeded to remove all the scale screws and pivot and then lock tight'ed them all. Problem solved.

I've gotten plenty of suicidal screws in the past. The worst offenders are phone and laptop screws. If one of them little buggers takes a dive it's gone for eternity. But because of this incident I guess today turned into a cleaning and maintenance day. Everything could use a tune up
