Is that something they learn in a truck driving school? How often does a truck driver make a decision to do that?

News said he had broken airlines with locked on brakes and he chose to go for it.

So he delayed everyone else on the Hwy. and risked a potential wreck instead of caging the brakes or waiting for a tow.

Not a fan.

They definitely don't teach that in any trucking school. That was just the product of years of experience. Glad it was him and not me. Was cool to watch though wasn't it?

I am not too familiar with that stretch of highway. I read the story and got the impression that he would have impeded more traffic had he not done it.

I don't know what "caging" is. The biggest thing I ever drove was a dump truck for a brief stint. There is no way I would ever drive anything with more than two axles through the mountains.

That was the way I understood it as well. And law enforcement did escort him down to the wide shoulder he parked at. That tells me they thought the reward was worth the risk. Otherwise they wouldn't have let him try it.
