Smoking cigarrettes ;) It`s been two weeks since I had my last one! I started smoking a pipe again (used to years ago), and am doing good so far. Instead of spending $80 dollars a week to smoke, I`m spending $4 on tobacco for the pipe. It`s actually more relaxing, because instead of lighting up while I work, I stop, sit down, and kick back for a bit. Wish me continued luck.

Way to go. I quit eleven years ago. The pipe is better, if you dont inhale but still not safe. I have a precancerous condition in my esophagus . Tobacco and alcohol are now big no nos.

I need to change my avatar.

I realize the pipe still isn`t great for me, but it`s a step in the right direction. Plus, my wife won`t let me smoke in the house since she quit a year ago, so if I want to smoke I have to go out to my shop (otherwise known as my "man cave.")

Two weeks is the hard part. Now it should be easy, especially with the pipe. I quit 16 years ago and turned to cigars. I don't inhale and usually only smoke where it's well ventilated. I smoke now just because i enjoy it.
If you want to try some cigars, let me know.

Good luck,
Dave

I wish you continued luck.:)

It's a good thing you're doing for yourself. Keep it up.

Cool move. Two weeks is a loooong time, isn't it? :)

I had quit cigarettes a couple of times, but eventually, the pipes that I had been smoking all along kept me nicotinized and I fell back on cigs for "convenience". When I finally did quit, that was it, no tobacco at all, can't take the chance.

The only smoking I have ever done was a pipe. I love the smell of pipe tobacco. I had a mixture of black cavendish and cherry that smells fantastic. That lasted around six months and I just left it behind. I recently opened an old ammo case that I hadn't looked in in years and found a package of the tobacco in it. Damn that case smelled good.

I was in New Jersey the other day watching people buy their cigarettes. Camels, $7.45 a pack if you buy two or more packs! Who the heck can afford to smoke?

I quit in 1976 and it hardly bothers me at all anymore:). Good luck, you won't miss it.

congrats john. I am a pipe smoker myself. I love it. I dont smoke that much anymore since i had the baby and my free time is at a minimum. If you want some samples of tobacco I have let me know I have quite the little collection

Good luck. I am still hooked.:o

..... Makes me sorta feel better only having a $33.60 a week habit.

$33.60 x 52 wks. = $1747.20 a year. Could cut down to $33.60 to every 2 weeks, a make a knife fund. You'd $873.60 a year to spend on knives! :D

Excellent way to look at it! I need to take up smoking for a while so I can quite and spend that money on knives!!!!! lol

Have you been talking to my better-half?;)

I was spending more but I switched to generic, taste like crap so I smoke less.

I now only smoke just enough to keep from doing bad things to stupid people.
