That slot on the Gerber 06 Manual...

I just got the Gerber 06 Manual. So far, I'm happy with it.

Does anyone know that that slot near the spine of the knife is for?
It feels like the hole in a donut....

I'm also worried this slot will make the knife weaker?

The only true purpose that I am aware of that the groove serves is to lighten the weight of the blade, possibly to give a knife better balance? It could also be used as an alternative way to open the knife (instead of the thumb stud) or for decorative (aesthetic) purposes.

I would NOT worry about it weakening the blade - unless you are planning to baton with it?

I'm too scared to baton with a it lol ;)
I heard that batoning with a folder is a big no no. Well maybe except for Cold Steels triad lock.

Would've preferred the slot not being there though.
Thanks for ur advice!
