Okay, we're all knife knuts here, so that means lots of knives on top of the dresser, or in the sock drawer, or where ever.

But...

Is there that one special slippy that calls to you more than some of the others? The one that manges to sneak into a pocket even when it's not its turn in the rotation? A gift knife, or maybe a long gone family member. Or memories of a guys weekend fishing down on the river with old friends.

What's your special slippy?

You first:p

I have two that are in that catagory(I know, but had to pick two anyway, lol). One, my fathers old Case Trapper, and the other is a Khnutbuster with some special dates inside the liner.

I don't carry the Trapper often, but have the other with me everyday.

Nothing special as such-no family associations(theirs all got used up unfortunately!)but I always find myself looking for a CASE Medium Stockman in Amber Bone that I've only had 3 years. I really like the bone and it's improving. The knife is neither too big nor small for my tastes, has a Turkish Clip blade that is elegant. Stainless yes and I use it a lot on foods, I often just like to worry the knife through my hands as it has really nice balance and smoothness. It just gives off very good vibes, don't know why!

I look forward to others' tales.

I've shown this one in the past, but this is my special knife.

Kerry made it special for my wedding, complete with stamped date on the inside of the liner. It was in my pocket during the big day. I have to admit that its first use was not as a knife, but as a worry stone prior to taking my vows. This knife has been in my pocket since. It's no longer mint as it has picked up a few nicks and scratches along the way. I even dropped it once, taking out a good-chip out of one of the scales. The bone has also become a bit pocket worn. I wouldn't have it any other way. Those little scars are reminders of my adventures during the past year and while it is no longer as valuable as a safe queen, this KHnutbuster is priceless to me.

I tend to value the ones I receive as gifts more than the ones I buy. In that vein, the Victorinox Pioneer and Buck 301 that my girlfriend bought me over the last couple of Christmases have a special place in my heart (and my pocket).

Of course I'll probably be adding a Schrade 8OT to the special slippy list soon as well:)

The one most special to me is a 123OT schrade, my grandfather got it for me when I graduated.

It has cut rope, bait, limes for tequila, steak, opened packages.

Stared across into East Germany when I was in the service.

Was my ONLY knife for a couple years there when I didn't have two nickels to rub together.

I don't carry it much anymore but it's always close by.

Hi,

For me it's been a Rough Rider 4 blade Congress. I bought it because I wanted an inexpensive look at the Congress pattern. I really don't like the blade choices. Nor do I like the way the knife feels in my hand when I use it. But the silly thing finds itself in my pocket way more often than it should.

That would have to be my Yeller handled full size Case trapper with CV blades. Really bigger than necessary for EDC, but I can't seem to leave the house without it.

My most special knife is the Case Trapper (yellow handle and CV of course) my wife gave me as a graduation gift before we were married. That was over 2 years ago now and I have carried it everyday since. I prefer the trapper pattern because that's what grandaddy carried. There is just too much senitmental value tied up in his knife for me to carry it.

I find myself carrying my Case CV 4 1/8" Yellow Handled Trapper more and more often.

I like to carry it in my Case Trapper Sheath, which I bought separately but I've seen lately that Cases sells a three piece set consisting of the Trapper knife, Trapper Sheath, and a Case Whetstone.

Always loved a Barlow and I've probably lost more of them than some of you have collected. Carrying this one now.

Bear & Son Stag Bone Barlow in Carbon Steel.

In all honesty I have been fighting an affair with a liner lock......but I have a small wooden box that I keep carry knives in on a dresser. I have changed it over time but these three are always present and make up 3/4 of that boxes population. The 303 with stabilized burl scales is one I rescaled myself, well the only one, so I am using because it is "my" knife, I need to polish it as the end down in the leather sheath is tarnished ....the middle knife is a 321 Bird knife I found somewhere, I guess someone didn't like the guthook and took the knife apart and removed it. It is now a thin long bladed knife that I am attracted to for some unexplained reason. I call it my 'shiv'. The SAK I carry on Sunday, as there is frequently something to tighted or repair for some Sunday school teacher or sound operator.....when they know you collect knives they expect you to produce the perfect one when asked. 300Bucks

I have a few that I find special, but your thread provoked me to my first Case knife that I found in an antique store in Monrovia CA. I know when I enter an antique store, it will be a lot of looking for a mere pittance of knife choices, however, just like fishin' it is the pursuit that matters most. So anyways, my heart skipped a beat when I found this small texas jack pattern a 1973 delrin handled cv bladed 6244. I learned to sharpen on it with a Lansky, and have a high bevel screw up on it. I was really pissed off at myself for not looking at the setting of the stone, and me being impatient. Now, when I look at the high bevel, it makes me relax and calm down, and puts me in check. I just checked to see if I had a photo of it handy but I do not. I pretty much blame this knife as a providential pivotal moment that led me to a healthy knife addiction. It also was the first one I let a patina form on.

I can say in all honesty that if I had to get rid of all my knives except one, I'd keep this humble Victorinox Tourist ...

It rode in my pocket on the day I got married to the prettiest girl in the world, and during the births of all three of our children. It's opened wine and beer bottles in good times, and cut up fruit for our kids in great times. I've used it to re-tune a harmonica in a pinch during a gig, and fix sunglasses on vacation, and assemble toys on Christmas. The tweezers removed ticks (:barf:, I know) during woods walks and camping trips in Florida and Europe.

In short, when I hold this knife, I think not of family members who came before me, but of my life right now, and the people in it who make me what I am, a :) man.

My special one would be this Marble's Whittler. I've posted this one before. I bought it in the early '90's, not long after getting married. Before there was a Bladeforums and before my run-away knife collecting. My wife was mad that I spent the money on it as we were saving for a house and pretty poor. It got alot of pocket time and real use while working some grubby jobs at the machine shop.

Not an individual knife, but a pattern. The same one I always mention, the Jr. Stockman. A Henckels Twins with stag that I’ve owned for at least thirty years. The circular shield was lost, but Henckels sent me a new one for free. Or else a Case with sambar stag.

I always carry at least one larger knife. But the small stockman does a lot of fine and coarse work without complaint.

A SAK that my hubby gave me. For him, it would be a Schatt and Morgan barlow in memory of his fiancee. Anything about melanoma upsets him. He will only carry that knife for dress up occasions.
