That special technique

I have often wondered how those knife throwers do it. Is it with a snap of the wrist or a certain angle of the shoulder?

I know the right kind of knife helps a lot but what about the proper technique?

If a person does well with a knife, does it also apply to tomahawks and axes even though different implements are involved.

I am totally in the dark about it. Perhaps a word of advice from some experts regarding this matter.

The "thrower" website is a terrific resource.

The "trick", Golok, is smoothness and consistency. It's not about muscle or speed, especially when you're learning.

Same grip, same stance, same distance. Using two or three matched knives helps because you spend more time throwin' and less time pickin' up...hehe.

Bigger and heavier knives are generally easier to throw, they rotate a bit slower. Most of the "pro" equipment you see is quite large, on the order of 12 to 14 inches long.

Most feel that the knife should just slide out of your hand as you make the throwing motion; any attempt by the beginner to put wrist action in will just add to inconsistency.
