That thing that splits the threads into pieces!

Does anyone else find the new feature in the UBB code that splits long threads in multiple pages rather annoying? It's so frustrating because I'm on the crappiest modem ever made and sometimes I just leave the computer or window alone for it to load and find out that it didnt even spend the 5 min i gave it to load the whole thing. Would it be possible to make it so you could set the page splitting thingy on or off in the profile?

That option isn't available. For that to work, the pages would have to be dynamically generated, and since they aren't, it's not possible.

I agree, the split pages can be annoying but sometimes they are good when the thread gets huge.

Okay, I can't understand what you're talking about Spark since I don't understand this dynamic generation stuff so I'll just take your word for it (and we asians are supposed to be good with electronics

). Maybe Infopop Corporation will think of something ingenious to make it cooler in the next UBB version. Just a thought...

Or have it so the last page comes up and offers the first pages if you want to see them. Kinda opposite of what it is right now.

Then what happens when you try to figure out where the last post you read was before the page split, L6?

The way we have it now works the best out of all the options.

Reverse threading is not an option. It's too ugly and confusing.

Keeping the pages from splitting is a huge waste of bandwidth, and if you complain about how long things take to download now, wait until you try to download a thread with 90 replies and no split pages...

Dynamically generating each thread would be the only way of allowing every user to "pick and choose" when or if they want the pages to split. That's not an available option right now, and would really bog down the CPU.

Believe me, this is the best way.

Spark,
Is there any way of moving the page selection up to the top of the page? Before the recent update, I could select page 2 without waiting for the entire page 1 to load. It would be nice to have it that way again.

Unfortunately, no.
