It's a big knife certainly but the micarta and full tang add 150-200g

Yep a hefty boy! But we're in small axe replacement territory here in terms of capability so its not so egregious.
And yes you do need to be careful on overswings! I managed to mis-swing and make contact with my kneecap through pants a few years ago. It was moving slowly at the time so barely broke the skin but talk about a fright! Won't be swinging so carelessly in future- especially when tired.
