Here's a UK story on seizures at US airports:
Airport Screeners Have Seized 4.8M Items
There's a lot of interesting numbers in there, but I find the fact that 25% of the time someone can get a gun past security rather distressing. As a consumer of airport security, I'd like to believe that for all of the delays and hassles that have been imposed, they'd be doing a better job than that. For any group with serious intent, a 25% success rate is way more than you would need to plan an operation.
This is also the first time I've seen it stated that some airports are selling what they seize. Has anyone seen anything on E-Bay that looked like seized material?
