Got my AD over the weekend (thanks Jerry!!) and I REALLY like the blade size and shape as the "little" in a big/little knife combo. It came razor sharp. When I tested it, it shaved at all points from the tip to the heel of the edge. In shipping the point had poked through the bottom of the sheath and popped a couple of stitches there. Nothing that a little superglue and a c-clamp from the shop can't fix. I also intend to do a wet-molding of the sheath as Raden showed us here because IMHO it looks really nice with that modification.
However, the molding on the sheath will have to wait until I finalize the handle shape on my AD. I like the texture the "flying bird" chevrons provided on the handle, but the micarta slabs felt too flat & squarish for my hands. They didn't seem to fill up my palm the way I'd like. So I started fooling around with some paracord wrapping. The results of my first go-around are shown in these pictures. I may eventually go with a more standard Japanese style wrap. When I got done I realized the results hinted at a puukko (or Ed Fowler Pronghorn?) shaped handle by fattening out the butt end of the handle and making a more pronounced pinky-hook with the paracord.
Here's the left side view of the wrap-job.
