good balance too :) i could probably do that :>

good thing there's a little snow on the ground, else that stew meat would've gone bad...

up around here, someone hits a deer, 99% of the time, you'll never know it unless the animal was turned into greasy paste. it goes home with SOMEONE right quick.

if i saw a beaver or other such tasty animal that sadly is never hit in the cold weather (hibernation!) i'd probably want to snag it. been meaning to learn how to skin and process critters... especially deer. i HAVE most of the tools after all ;)

That's illegal in Texas. Supposed to case Fish and Wildlife. Iguess so they can have the meat.

What kind of websites are you frequenting?
I've got no problem with roadkill. Not for me, but the idea that there is a law saying you can't take it home with you chaps my hide. I was at a KnapIn several years back. One of the attendees whacked a deer out on the highway. Early the next morning, several participants dragged it back to the event and parted it out for various primitive type activities.

In California we can't sell any product that comes from the native deer. Even if you legally harvest it, you cannot sell the antlers or the tanned hide if you wanted to. Our legislators are too busy molesting pages to actually serve the public and pass laws that actually have substance and protect the public.

Sut, you got that right. We can't hardly hunt does, we can't kill pigs with spears or knives, you can't legally pick up road killed dear, and they currently have a bill to make it illegal to course rabbits with a dog. But you can have a NAMBLA meeting at the local library:mad: Welcome to Kalifornicate.

In the sixties I was a National Park Ranger....picked up plenty of deer following calls from citizens, and not one bite went to my table. We had agreements with the State Prison, Boy's School, the Funny Farm, and a Monastery IIRC. It was no trick to get my own correctly and leagally, if we ran out.....Your Fish & Wildlife don't take advantage of you.
