THIS is a knife!!( sorry, but I could'nt resist:D)I just got this image from Chuck Ward of my latest stag bowie. This one is a big one! The blade is 11 3/4" of 100 layer ladder damascus by Chad Nichols and forged to shape by me.
The handle is some really textured popcorn elk stag with a patterned copper band and rawhide wraps.OAL is 17", and the guard and buttcap is deep etched wrought iron. The buttcap has a copper underlay, and is carved/filed to match the stag.
The sheath on this one is my first attempt at a mexican loop sheath, and took me 12 plus hours to complete! It is heavily decorated, and is rawhide over veg-tan, featuring deerskin fringe, a rattlesnake overlay on the beltloop, and a wrought iron concho. It also has quite a bit of rawhide lacing, which accounts for a good bit of the construction time.Hope you enjoy the look see!

that is a kick ass knife, John!:cool:

Very nice. I like the matching copper & wrought iron on both the knife and the sheath. Makes for a fine matched set.

That is an awesome looking knife and sheath John. The sheath compliments the knife perfectly and the picture is exceptional.

I figure I could frame and mount the sheath alone and happily stare at it as a stand-alone work of art.

And that big brawny bowie you made to go with it turned out great! :D

John that is a outstanding knife. I can see you put a lot of time into the sheath. Very nice combination. KT

A Knife in Deed, and a very nice one at that.
Especially like the sheath. Considering the multiple materials involved, detail and "material distress process", I'm very surprised you don't have more than 12 hours in it.

Thanks everyone! This is one I had been wanting to make for a while, and Chuck did a fantastic job of showing it off properly!

That's a beautiful piece John, you outdid yourself on this one! Very nice work.

Great work Mr. Cohea! The knife and sheath look very rustic. I like the use of copper too.
