I've been looking for a Kydex sheath for my BK9 when I came across a good price on a Ka-Bar BK9 with a Kydex sheath. I jumped on it basically because I really wanted the sheath. It came in today and I didn't realize exactly the differences in the Ka-Bar BK9 and the original Camillus BK9 until I had them in hand. I knew there was a minor difference in thickness but didnt think much of it. My older BK9 wouldn't even come close to fitting in the Kydex sheath of the Ka-Bar BK9 as it was waaaay to tight. I really didn't think there whould be any concerns at all with them sharing a sheath. I guess I was wrong. Just FYI.

I believe the Camillus was .21 inches thick, and the current is 3/16 (.188) thick. It doesn't seem like a lot, but in a sheath, it needs to be about perfect for a good fit.

You could (in theory at least) take a hair dryer to the sheath until it is just warm enough to stretch out over the knife you want to put in it. A thought at least.

Yea, if you find that you don't need one of those 9's, I'll gladly take it off your hands :).

In other news, yea, a hair dryer or a heat gun can loosen up the kydex, but then just one of the two will fit, since they are different thicknesses.

Ditto. I'll take that Camillus guy off your hands.

Edit: Too busy dreaming of BK9s

A quick 3 minute ride in the oven at 325C would loosen it plenty. Aluminum foil on the rack is enough to keeping it from melting and ruining anything.
