China/Taiwan knives scare me... all I read about is bad finish and wiggle-wobble blades. I want USA and have many good choices. I am interested in any feedback on the 14460 HK Nitrous Blitz. The price suits me, I like assisted opening, blade size and the handle will fit my big fat hand. I want out of box quality. Is this a sound choice? Should I look at any last minute competitors? You might look at a Kershaw Avalanche. US made. The blade shape and the size are similar. It is assisted opening. Steel is S30V. G10 handle.

Some folks prefer 154CM, others S30V.

Anyway, you might look at it.

The 14460 is my current EDC, here's why:

- It is very slim
- It's very light
- It's pocket friendly (rounded all over, soft G10 finish)
- Blade shape is utilitarian
- BT coated for your peace of mind

Other good points include a fast and reliable action, good all around 154CM and a nicely shaped pocket clip.

One bad point though : The thumb stud is NOT ambidextrous, it is removable and I guess you can place it on either side of the blade but that's it.

Just FYI , you can get bad F&F and blade play on a knife made in every country where knives are made.
Do not let the fact that something is Made in USA mislead you to think it the best you can buy. Asians have making knives centuries longer than our Nation has existed.
There are many fine examples of knives made in Japan , Taiwan and yeap , even China.

Enjoy your day.

I purchased a Nitrous Blitz a couple months ago and I have been happy with it. Good lock up of the liner and well thought out AO desgn. Very sharp out of the box and light and slim to carry. This is good EDC. Benchmade makes some fine knives.

Thank you all for comments. I think Loken said it all. I guess I may have been too harsh on knives from Asia, but I don't want to experiment until I get one that is right. Took a look at the Kershaw Avalanche and like that as well. May have to buy 2... Glad to hear of your positive experience RKH

One of my nicest knives has Seki-Cut on the blade. So I don't think that country of origin is the problem, per se. :)

I like Benchmade knives but Spyderco and kershaw make good knives, too. They have some models made in Japan and China. The Byrd line by Spyderco is an excellent knife. What I have noticed on some of the Kershaw knives is that they leave the edge a little thick although they make it sharp. All spyderco knives come very sharp and with a great edge geometry. The Caly III by Spyderco is an excellent knife. I think Spyderco and Benchmade are doing a very nice job on edge geometry. I think Benchmade has improved from a few years ago. Good luck on your search fordf250.

Didn't mean to come off mean , my morning coffee hadn't kicked in yet.

For a fine example of a good Chinese made knife , try a Byrd Meadowlark , you will love it , my guess. :)
