got my package from Sky today, great delivery time. Packaged nicely with a handy instruction sheet.

Love that leather smell! Excellent F&F...heavy-duty hardware on it, excellent fit of the knife...I'm tickled with it! My fave color of leather too!

Here I am testing something.... It looks great, so stay tuned for updates on the 16's (or future 17's) possible ''new look''

Thanks Sky, I am very pleased with it, would definitely utilize your shop services again.
In fact, I need to contact you about an idea.

I'd also like to add, the retention strap works superbly! Only way knife would come out with strap secured is if I yanked it hard enuff to damage leather or break snap...moderate tugs do Nothing to it. The strap is thick, quality leather...no give or ''bend'' to it...simply vault tight once engaged. The shockcord is also a nice touch.

Also, the sheath is entirely ''overbuilt'' with heavy-duty leather and hardware...yet it isn't heavy in weight, It is ''hefty'' and solid...but not overly weighty on the belt...that is one concern I had beforehand.

I had thought about having Sky make me a Loop, to go around the horizontal loops and allow me to carry vertically if I wish...but I was looking at a scrap of kydex I had...and came up with this

It of course needs polished and sanded...but it works well. And to prove I indeed have pants on now

This in NO WAY reflects on Sky's EXCELLENT design...just giving myself some more carry options.

This was a ''proof of concept'' from scrap, I'm gonna cut me one out thats longer, so I can bend it over and rivet it down to make a solid belt loop instead of belt clip

*back to the cutting board!

I like it.
This isn't attached to the sheath at all, simply ran thru the loops...I can remove it by just unsnapping three snaps and sliding it off. All edges polished so as not to mar the leather.

Was that a hint at a stag handled tweener? Ooh a stag handled 17 would look beautiful, with a stripped and blued blade?

Okay, well I can neither confirm nor deny that you may send me the prototype to test out (and keep, allegedly).

I am trying to find Stag online large enough for the 16...can only find smaller pocket-knife sized slabs.

Now I also need a firesteel sized for my new sheath's loop! What size/model 'steel do u use Sky?

OP edited with new pics BTW

Hey Thrill thanks for the review! The loops are sized for a 3/8" steel, I usually use the Gobsparks. Waiting on the stag handled tweener..............

No problem, the sheath deserves whatever meager praise I can give it LOL

3/8''...gotcha.

Im waiting on the stag too! ;)

Stag handled tweeners with leather pants is about the coolest thing yet. I have got to see some of that...

Oh, and that's a badass set up you have yourself too!

Please stop showing these threads. ;)

Skystorm's work is beautiful and I need one for my BK2. But, if I order that, I will need to order the crossdraw sheath for my 14 that I have yet to buy. Skystorm you sir are a wizard. You have managed to already lay claim to money that I have not earned, for the future payment of an accessory, for an knife that I do not even own yet.

thank you...and I hope it won't be too long before I have some sort of stag/antler/bone on the 16

That is a AWESOME sentence! lmao

That kydex mod looks great, and handy :D
thanks...Im pleased with it, will come in handy on days I dont wanna Scout carry it.

man, sky's leather looks awesome! thrill, seems like your kydex-fu is coming along nicely, nice mod you did there.

Quick question on the carry of the 16:

I placed my order for the BK16 yesterday and I won't be getting my blade until sometime next week so...I was wondering if this can actually be carried scout-style?

I know the answer is yes, but let me explain...I bought a scout-style sheath for the BK2 and the knife is too long and too heavy to ride the way it's meant to. The butt-end stuck straight back and the whole knife did not rest flat on my back. I ask because I'd like to know if I should look for a scout style, or a draw (left handed), or a dangler on the BK16.

short answer, yes. This thing has a lot of options, even more with the vertical belt loop. It's very comfortable/handy carried small of back, keeps it tucked away nicely and handle is right there when u want to draw. I also like to wear these type sheaths just left of belt buckle, so the handle is about in center of body on the front. It's also quite handy worn on right hip, handle forward for a reverse or ''ice-pick'' style grip & draw.

This sheath also attached to pack straps well, tried it on my pack the other day, can carry it blade up OR down. The leather straps work pretty well on MOLLE gear too.
