Lovely views from Dougs place. Thanks again for hosting this Doug & letting me park the mothership in your yard.

Mmmmm BACON !!!! For Captain Airyca. It rained & poured the first day. I did NOT want to cook outside in the rain. So i improvised, adapted & overcame the weather.

100_1508.jpg

Started cooking it up inside the mothership. (Note the "Women Working" sign that my wife likes. She says it's cause us men don't work, it's always the women.) I disagree.
It was not working out so good, so then...........

100_1509.jpg

I stopped using the small pans & manned up & threw the LumberJack skillet on the stove & used all 3 burners for it. THAT worked AWESOME !!!

100_1515.jpg

So, here we are, inside the building, Doug started putting together the frisbee/disc golf set together. As you know.......REAL MEN don't need directions (RTFM lol :D). Anyways, it didn't take long (sorry Doug but you just HAD to know this was going in here lol :D) before blood was spilled.

100_1510.jpg

This was one of about 15 big drops. I could track him like a wounded deer !!! lol

100_1511.jpg

Note to others: Zip ties are a mother to cut, so don't cut towards yourself. Prob could have used a stitch or 4. Could have been worse. Doug was lucky.

Great post, Mike. I really did have a good time. So much so that if it weren't for you guys reminders, I would have stood around shooting the bull till the fire went out.

My take for this year: Grass machete, Kabar BK9, the two tweeners, 1217 and a bunch of Olean Remoras.

Doug did all the hard work, we got to do the fun part. brown canvas micarta with a vinegar patina.

Already thinking about next year and the forthcoming secret goodness.

Nice dark patina! I'll have to see what happens with mine, but I hope it looks as dark and even as that.

Here's our knives. The top one is Jen's, and she gave it one scale in purpleheart, and one in desert ironwood. The blue handled one is mine. We had lots of fun talking, trading, and camping. The paring knives Doug had for us to handle made for the icing on the cake! Amazing souveniers of a great weekend.

I am glad to hear everyone had a great time. I am truly sorry Mary was not around too much. She had to work Saturday morning, and as everyone knows is sick. She has lower left lung Pneumonia, she went to the docs today. Looking forward t next year already and I will see what I come up with. Great to see the pictures everyone took and are displaying. A HUGE THANKS to toooj for making it back and bringing his wealth of knowledge and bringing all those KA - BARS AND BECKERS for us to purchase. Doug

Here is some pics of a special project of mine. It is going slow, but progressing none the less.

100_1551.jpg

These are a set of BK15-BK16-BK17 FPR. I plan to make a presentation box & gift them to my daughter (my outdoorsman). Toooj was nice enough to sign them for me. Now i have to get Ethan to sign on the other side, somehow. I sure am leary of sending them through the mail. The sentimental value will out weigh any insurance money. Toooj is an outstanding individual. I personally REALLY appreciate the "grass roots" effort he puts forth by attending our WNY Gathering. A wealth of industry & knife knowledge. Thanks again Toooj.

100_1549.jpg

Here is a shot of the Spec-Ops sheath i picked op on trade from JohnG, it fits my BK2. Also a shot of the Sabre grind non-fpr BK16, that Toooj dug up for me. Thanks you Toooj. It will be my new user. The FFG will find a new home somewhere.

Thanks again to Doug & Mary for hosting. Thanks to Roger, Larry, John, Jennie & everyone else who showed up & helped out.

WOW so awesome you guys made your own blades? also, I approve of the breakfasts! Thanks for the pics :P

I made the blades they put handles on them. They all came out really nice it sure was cool to see what they came up with, with handles configurations. Those breakfasts were AWESOME. Doug

I am kicking my self in the a$$ for not being able to make it out. I had a stag party for my cousin Saturday then had to go out of town for a family reunion for my girlfriend. I really hope I can make it next year. Doug looks like you have an awesome shop. I am drooling over all of the tools :)

Sure does loook like aseriously good time.......That skillet full is what i refer to as a GBGB or great big greasy breakfast and it sure looks tasty......

Hope to make the party sometime!!!!!!!!!..........

Ethan

Here's our new paring knives with our other kitchen cutlery, all from the DP Knives shop!

I've been using the blue handled paring knife a lot this week. For everything from opening up packs of hot dogs to slicing bananna bread. It's a pleasure to use. Thanks again, Doug!

I'm diggin the large chefs knife & the top one.

Went to Rohrbach's Brewing Co tonight for dinner. OUTSTANDING German food & Scotch Ale. I got me a jagerschnitzel (came with sauerkraut & German potato salad) & some scotch ale.
OMG---best i have had since i left Germay in 1984 !!! Married 27 years today. Beer was so good, i got me a growler of it. Highly recommended for anyone in the WNY area.

Twinstick....where is that located?...I am near Buffalo

thanks
