I'd love to see it next to an ASH1, I understand they're different but haven't seen for myself.

It is a grippy version of g-10 if that makes any sense. Doesn't have that dense feel to it for some reason.
 
I posted this in the "Tough Rifles" thread. It's my 3B2 with my Puma 92 in .454 Casull. It's the combo I was carrying the other night on a snowmobile ride along the Yukon checking traps.

Its one of the most comfortable knives, I liked it a lot, I wish I still had that knife. The 3B2 was a more useful tool than the ASH1 IMHO because of the little bit of size difference.

I've got one too, it is my all around favorite knife! Not too big, not too small...just right!
