Happy Independence day!

For me, it's a time to reflect and be thankful... To God, for our founders, and for our service men and women who've fought and died to maintain our way of life.

How 'bout you?

FREEDOM!!!!!!! :)

Makes me think of David McCullough's superb books John Adams and 1776. A must read (or CD) for anyone who gives a dang about America.

The 4th of July is about the time i recover from my Canada day (July 1st) hang over.:D:D:D
have a great day yanks, go out there and blow some stuff up.

My twin boys turned 14 on July 3rd. I fly the flag on this weekend, and feel thankful that I was born in this great nation. I get goose bumps when I hear our national anthem. Moorpark CA has a great fireworks show on the 3rd, and we have been going to it for 6 yrs now. I really enjoy it. It is very patriotic, and family oriented, both themes I want for my teen children to be influenced by. Tonight, I usually relax in the spa and look up and see what I can see from that vantage. It is a special holiday for me and I love our country.

Its a time to really put the petty and material things aside, and focus on what we are so fortunate to have, living here in the greatest country in the world...

Also time to reflect on those who gave of themselves, so that future generations can still live freely.

I went to a parade yesterday and was quite proud that, without being told to do so, my son and daughter both stood, removed their hats and placed them over their hearts as the Color Guard passed by.

I haven't read John Adams yet but I very much enjoyed 1776.

I can't tell you how many people I've had to tell to remove their hats. Some were adults

It always makes me smile when I see young people with respect, you should be proud. My son is 14, and he makes me proud almost every time we are out in public.
