Just thought I'd throw this out fr consideration. Years ago, there were a bunch of guys callilg themselve the 577 club and when members ran into each other they chad to pull out a round of 577 Nitro express from on them or the guy who couldn't produce had to by the drinks.

Maybe we ought to have the HI equivalent. pull out your chakma, kagas katne, or Kumar karda, or you buy.

That's the general idea, now take the ball and run with it. How can we do this up right? Commentary time is open.

I like it! We used to do something similar in the Army with our SF coins. In training, the instructors were always charging into the showers to demand to see your coin. I assume few here would go so far to get a free beer, but you never know. If everyone has an acceptable token, do you then go to the guy with the smallest khuk buys? If so, I see some great T-shirt slogans arising out of this!

Maybe one of Uncle Bill's khukri "tie-clasps" (ok, they're actually more like pins/broaches) would make acceptable totems?

I was thinking more of a chakma so nobody got busted for carrying a weapon. And the buying of drinks doesn't turn me on either.

It's just something to acknowlege your membership in such an august and distinguished group.

Till the weather warmed up I always had a crossed-Khuks-over-"Nepal" pin on my Indiana Jones hat holding on the peacock feather.

With enough buyers you could probably get the mould made and have them produced for around $200 per ring in silver. I have no idea what it would cost to get this done in gold and jewlery may be more expensive in Nevada.

I am sure that if uncle bill puts it out there, he will definatly get more than enough takers. I would be one of them.

Life is short, art endures.

I like the 1 1/4 or 1 1/2" square crossed Khukuri pin with Nepal under it.

Do we really want an HI ring -- crossed khukuris with H on top and I underneath. Make in Nepal, of course, by the fellow who does our Kothimoda khukuris.

My guess is silver with a little gold for less than $100 USD.

Khukuri FAQ

Uncle, I'd love HI khukuri ring to wear. If not silver, MB spring steel will also be welcomed by me. Size variation will cause a problem though...

Here's another idea, a bandaid case of khukuri shape.

Not a belt buckle with crossed khukuris sticking out at the top for those like me suffering from Dunlap's disease ( your belly "done laps" over the buckle ).

If they turn out halfway decently, I'd like one of those rings, Bill.

BTW, when are you expecting a shipment of 25" Kobras? or do they just sort of show up when you least expect it?

Tom

I think I'll get a design on the ring and make a post.

You guessed it, Tom. Gelbu keeps the "long knives" in stock until he can get enough together to make a 30 or 40 KG parcel. Mixing lengths causes problems. So, it is always a surprise when they show up.

Khukuri FAQ

Sounds interesting. In the meantime I'm gonna put my khukri pin on one of my hats and see what responses it draws.
