Fairly recently I done a thread where I asked you guys to pick my next Becker. Many of you weighed in with your opinions on new steel, but a couple guys chimed in a little differently. DerekH specifically pointed out that I needed to go the route of quality kydex, and a couple other guys seconded his motion.
Well the time came to make my purchase, and that seed he planted kept eating at my decision. Having a very addictive personality, low self esteem, and a poor judge of character, I succumbed to the peer pressure, and decided to go the kydex route.
Using the search function, I researched sheaths, and found a plethora of info. Immediately I started looking at two makers that are household names, Azwelke and Godspeed. I knew that I was gonna drop my cash on sheaths for my 9 and 2. So I started searching pics from both makers, with those two blades in mind. After quite a while of searching, I found some beautiful kydex work, but I saw one pic, from a name that I had been running across fairly often during my research. I can't for the life of me, find that pic again, but it showcased a beautiful sheath from a guy named The 710. What really made me take a second look, was the type of belt attachment that it had. This piece used a really good looking leather attachment system that paired, in my eyes, perfectly with the kydex.
I followed a link I found to his web page, and it didn't take very long at all to realize that id found my sheath maker.
Now as a few of you know, I just recently went through a divorce and custody battle for my two boys. During that process, I was forced to close my bank accounts, and cancel my credit cards. That left me with basically just one way to pay for the sheaths, a good old-fashioned USPS money order. I sent an e-mail his way, and very quickly I received a reply saying send the MO on, and he would get started on my order. I had a special request of having my BH# stamped into the leather, and never having done this, the owner Julio, had to devise a system and method to do it, that met his pretty tough quality requirement. During the process, he contacted me by e-mail, text, and phone calls regularly, every detail had to be perfect.
When he was finished, I received an e-mail notifying me of shipment, and in two days I opened a package to find these inside.
If I could only use one word to describe his work, it would be HOLYCRAPTHESETHINGSAREAMAZING!!!!!
The quality and craftsmanship are excellent, the fit and finish are spot on. I had found my kydex bender.
On monday, I sent payment out, on a new pocket sheath for my edc 14, a bk-2 for a friend, and I asked the guy to make me a belt. In the same professional manner, ive received the e-mail, texts, and calls, to ensure that the product he is sending to me is perfect. As a teaser, he has sent me a couple pics of the not yet finished products, and they already look amazing.
I can't wait to put them to use!!!!
Just to close, id like to send a huge thank you to DerekH, for his reccomendation of kydex, and mostly to Julio, The 710, for his absolutely amazing work, and his excellent customer service.
If any of you guys are in the market for quality kydex, and like helping out good people, I highly reccomend The 710 Custom Kydex!
Id also like to add that I am in no way receiving any form of compensation from The 710. This whole thread is my opinion, and my reccomendation to you guys. Hell, I never even asked for permission to use his pics lol
Thanks,
Brandon
