Just cruzin BM''s knife wizard, and guess what pops up? A blue class carbonfiber/S30V 806 and a gold class carbonfiber/damascus 806! Limited edition, but its a second chance to own an 806, and a fancier verson than the original. I don't have the money, but thought you guys would like to know.

I really like my 806. Has a feel like no other knife. From general tasks to self defense, the 806 will do the job. It really shines as a tactical knife (AFCK stands for Advanced Folding Combat Knife). The only thing I don't like is the bevel on the hole. Harder to get a good "bite" with the thumb.

Regards

this was a limited edition run also done as a gold class with damascus blade.

They were only sold through one dealer and i think they were only sold overseas.

However sometimes they do pop up on ebay but expect to pay 300-350 if you can find it

So the damascus one is only available from dealers outside of North America?

Even though the S30V version will probably be a couple of hundred bucks, it's one that certainly has me interested.

I got my 806 from webe knives. 350 dollars.plus 25 for shipping. only took four or five days to arrive all the way to Japan. It's really a beautiful looking knive. I was very lucky. I also foud the damascus one at a store "Yamahide" in Japan but it cost more than 500 dollars. It's sold out,but they still have one s30v in stock I think.

Discontinuing the 806 was a mistake for BM. You can't tell me it wasn't selling because it was always sold out when I wanted to buy one.

I don't think they stopped making it because it wasn't selling....I seem to recall hearing that they'd been paying Spyderco to use their thumbhole design and that the contract had ended and for some reason or another wasn't renewed.

I would love one of those again....I had a nice Axis lock one but like a dummy I sold it....TOTALLY regret that move :p

well if it was just about the spyderhole then they could have just continued making the 805 with better steel then 440c or just put a thumbstud and no hole on an 806 and called it the 807

The Spyderco spyder-hole deal with Benchmade ended around the turn of the century, when Benchmade switched to what I seem to recall Benchmade having deemed something vastly superior, their oval-hole (so superior they recently switched right back to the Spyder-hole ).

From what I've read, the discontinued status of the AFCK had absolutely nothing to do with Spyderco's trademarked hole, so let's not re-hash that whole fiasco again!

... that whole hole fiasco.

Yes, that is absolutely off topic!

Seems, like discontinuing the 806 was the best decision to sell small numbers for much higher prices in shorter time than.

I was starting a topic in the Benchmade forum some years ago, telling, there would be a special run of M2 and S30V models. Wow, some ppl. were ordering without hesitation. I had to apologise but it was a great reaction.

Maybe i should ask BM to pay my great idea!:D

I gave one of my departing NCO's my first AFCK (ATS34) combo blade...he always like it.

Fortunately I've stumbled across the M2 version with liner lock and the D2 version with Axis lock. I do agree that they should have maintained the 806 in their standard listing. It really is a great knife and would continue to be a cash-cow seller for BM.

Now, I'd like to add an Axis M2 and and S30V versions to the rotation...

Love oval hole, but always wanted higher grinds for better slicing… so I ordered a replica from local knifemaker
pics taken by another russian forumite… my knife is still in shop

GarageBoy, I think you have mail.
there are options of steels and scales, so you better ask the maker himself
