the 908-161

I guess I'm out if $500+ is considered the "bargain model" of the class... I agree, it is visually appealing.

And the price isn't as ridiculous as the other recent gold class releases.

Well, you could spend $1000+ on other Gold class models, and some don't have the Damascus blades. By comparison, this is a better deal.

It's still not cheap, but for the features it has, compared to other BM gold class, I think it's a pretty good deal.

I read somewhere that damasteel is similar in performance to 154CM.. If that’s the case, I can’t justify spending 500+ for 154CM eye candy.

Don’t get me wrong, the scales are very unique and look awesome, but I would prefer some acid etched or DLC stonewashed M390 instead.

Found a few independent photos of this online... handle actually is a lot more red than the stock BM photos might lead you to believe!

Absolutely love my 908-1501, but it looks drab compared to this beauty!
Dam that is pretty!
Joe

This Limited Edition Benchmade 908-161 Gold Class Stryker II at $510.00 is actually not badly priced considering what you get.

Anyone recall how many of these were made?

  • Odin Heim™ patterned Damasteel
  • Black and Red Carbon Fiber
  • Anodized red hardware accents

Looks like very solid construction too, looks beautiful, but also solid enough to be a user. I already EDC a 484-1, which could be considered pricey for an EDC. I feel like the 908-161 is of a similarly robust construction, and could serve as a very attractive and solid user. The CF scales are certainly tough enough for carry. I have no experience with Damasteel, but from what I've read about it, it seems to have good performance reviews. Although I don't know what maintenance is like, or if it is prone to scuffing/scratching or if the finish of the blade can handle typical day to day use without looking like trash. I think with the price as it is, this is one of those gold class knives that you could use more often and not feel guilty about scuffing and devaluing it like you might with a $1000+ gold class limited edition. Out of curiosity, would any of you buy this knife for the purpose of carrying/using it? Or would you feel dirty for sullying such a beauty and just treat it as a safe queen? I think I could carry it and use it with a clear conscience.

Thinking of selling my Shiro F95 and getting this one. ...Though there are other candidates as well.

I carry/ use mine when not at work. I use a 940-1501 for work.

I wonder about this as well. I have #256 so I know there are at least that many.

I've checked for the number of pieces and found none. So, I'm beginning to think it's one of those unlimited limiteds!

If I remember correctly, they said they will be making it throughout the year.

Btw can anyone post some real live photos/video of this knife?

Well I went ahead and ordered one, couldn't resist that sweet Damasteel! I will post many photos when it arrives :)

Got a call from Knifeworks saying that it shipped out today. Should be here by the end of the week. Can't wait to get my mitts on it! There will be much knife fondling.

Arrived today right on time! I ended up with #75, it will be interesting to see what the final total number made will be, I'm pretty happy to get one within the first 100 out of the factory :) All I can say is.... Wow, this thing is incredible! Pics hardly do it justice. You really have to get it in your hands. Feels rock solid. Fit and finish are outstanding. Blade centering is dead on. Lock up is tighter than a nuns backside, with no blade play. I'm having a hard time looking away from this beauty.

The milling on the grip feels fantastic, grippy enough without being harsh and grabby, very comfortable against your hand. The shiny carbon fiber weave catches the light and sparkles in between the matte arterial blood red colored weaves that are just thrilling to see up close! And the blade is absolutely gorgeous. The light dances along the blade catching the pattern in different ways, at certain angles the Benchmade logo and edition number completely disappear into the Odin Heim pattern as if shifting in and out of phase.

It came from the factory shaving sharp, which I tested on the back of my hand. The balance point is basically right where the finger cutout is. Surprisingly low profile in the pocket for how much knife you get. The weight feels comparable to my 484-1. If you are still on the fence about this knife, I'd say go for it! Here are a few quick pics I took.
