I made these two for myself; CPM 3V, some aluminum, Terotuf and Suretouch. Leather as well, of course!

Their names are Johnny Canuckhuri and S.O.G.F.T. Bit of a Canadian theme here.

This thread will be updated over time, as these blades see some use.

Cheers, and thanks for checking out my work. Comments and questions welcome

Great looking knives Lorien! Also, I'm kinda getting Hossom vibes from Johnny (assuming it's the recurved one). Dare I ask what S.O.G.F.T. stands for?
thanks bud- I do dig that Hossom vibe, so that's a big compliment in my book :)
Stand on guard for thee...
Very nice, Lorien Lorien . Interesting that you went for the large choil on the JC ... How large are the blades ?
thank you👍

the blade on the khuk is around 7", I'm guessing the other is around 5"

Lorien, what is the liner material on Johnny Canuckhuri, the thicker one touching the tang?

I was thinking about that Khuk more, Lorien. Really cool that you managed to avoid a recurve !
how do you mean? I'm not pickin up what you're puttin down!

the tang frame is aluminum, and there are six hidden stainless steel pins plus the two which go all the way through up at the guard. Lovelss style bolts go through the tang and are anchored by Terotuf, (the tan material you asked about). There's 1mm or so of G10 out past the Terotuf, and then Suretouch on the outside.

the SOGTF is Terotuf laminated to G10, same aluminum as the other one...same steel, too- in fact they both came from the same bar

For most Kukris, part of the edge is recurved (concave? Some pic from the web):

Your edge is completely convex, which will make sharpening much easier.

Still you are maintaining the general Kukri shape, front heavy, angled grip, etc. I like it, hope I make sense.

You must be fun at parties.

For my part, I perceive a slight recurve in the area highlighted in you post, so it's more khukuri-esque to me. Maybe it's better described as a khukuri-like-object?

aha, I see what you mean. The front of the blade on this knife doesn't drop nearly as much as the classic design- that necessitates a lot more curve in the rear section of the blade.

for this knife, I gave up some of that sweet power transfer for more lateral control since this knife is designed for springy type vegetation over chopping of a goat's head or whatever. So far, it's proving to be an accurate and precise cutter, which is what I was aiming for.
