For those scarred veterans of the "wild boar versus a full-grown St. Bernard" debate, it has finally been settled once and for all.
In Kobe yesterday a 130 pound wild boar killed a 5 foot long St .Bernard.
I dont know any more details than that.

Thank God that's settled. So many sleepless nights. Half a life wasted...Peace. Peace, at last.
Thank you. Thank you, my wise Ninja-in-training brother.
Actually, i'd like to know more about the fight. Was it close, was it a planned encounter, was an epic sword fight involved?

Yeah, but after the fight, the boar didn't eat the dog.

What was the Saint Bernard going to do ? Slobber it to death ? I certainly wouldn,t want to see Cujo coming at me in the middle of the night . Given a choice between a wild animal with tusks and Bethoven the family dog ?
My only question is , what would happen if we armed the dog with a Kukuuri ?

A dog can kill a boar. A boar can kill a dog, right? Nasty said the most important thing, the pig did not eat the dog.
A dog would eat the pig, wouldn't he?

For some reason, that sounds like adherence to Montana's Game and Fish regulations. Good dog.

I don,t know about a wild boar . A pig would eat just about anything . It wasn,t long ago that two gents with a pig farm were caught and charged in the disappearance of literally dozens of local women . The secret is to keep em hungry .

Well now that is not much of a debate down here in Texas. None of us Texans would be so unwise as to sick one dog of anykind on one wild boar with his long tusks.

However, some Texans are known to chase them wild boars and run them to ground in the woods with six or seven or eight or nine catch dogs. A group of pit bulls acting as catch dogs sure makes a worthy opponent for Mr. wild boar and his long tusks. However, Mr. wild boar can do a lot of damage to several of the catch dogs (even though he is outnumbered) before the catch dogs finally pin him to the ground and hold him down for the hunter to come shoot him with a rifle and if the hunter doesn't arrive in time with his rifle, you can be sure that the team of pit bull catch dogs will finish Mr. wild boar off ---no matter how long his tusks are.

If you should ever witness one of these displays of prime evil combat between Mr. wild boar and the catch dogs, you will understand why it is very unwise to pit one dog of any kind against Mr. wild boar and his long tusks.

No sir, it is not much of a debate at all as to who will probably win the fight between a wild boar and a lone dog. However, if there is any dog that can take a wild boar down by himself it definitely is the pit bull (no doubt about it). Just for anyone that may not familiar with the pit bull, Mr. pit bull is not afraid to take on an Africian Lion --- even though he ( Mr. Pit Bull ) will probably be defeated in combat with an Africian Lion.

I venture to say that a lot of you men never knew that this type of hunting (hunting a wild boar with catch dogs) ever existed. It is certaintly a type of hunting that I do not sanction. It becomes extremely brutal to all involved.
If you are going to kill something, kill it swiftly. Don't stretch it out into a blood sport as described above.

Well now Mr Kilpatrick who is from Texas, you have kind of strange way of speaking.
It's not bad, it just strikes me as odd.
I am a fellow Texan (7th gen) but I never got the chance to hunt much. My father was a big fisherman type.
This particular fight included a wild pig that was not bigger then the dog, about 2/3 the size I guess.
Really, it was just an odd piece of news in Japan.

Ah, but how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?

Don't say three. That owl was full of it.

I agree. The Tootsie Pop riddle has been right under our noses all this time, and we never saw it. Actually, I'm wondering how much of the Tootsie Pop stick you can see when the Pop's in your mouth.
So, it may be both a figurative and literal truth about Tootsie Pops.
