The aircraft aluminum handle of my Dalton Companion... well... "squished"

I dropped my Companion on the floor yesterday. The aircraft aluminum handles are light and strong, but I now suspect that they don't resist impact very well. When I opened the knife the blade didn't go all the way out, so I pushed it the rest of the way, and it wasn't a very smooth action. I closed it (again, feeling rough) and opened it a few times, and I noticed a gouge was forming on the side of the blade where it passes through the handle. So I took it appart and found a place on the inside of the grip where some metal was sticking into the path of the blade, I filed it down, now it works fine and you can't tell anything ever happened... but if I drop it again, it might turn out worse. Should I worry about the aluminum, or do you think this was just a fluke?

But I would guess that the warranty people would be able to replace a knife that was rendered wholly inoperabale by dropping (while closed?). If it happend again...

I have a Dalton Companion and IMO they are of a poor quality not much above copycat imports in quality. I dont know about other daltons but IMO avoid the companion. My cuda maxx that cost 90.00 is a by far better knife and just as fast to open.
