Yesterday, I bought this beast of a folder and decided on it taking the place of my Spyderco Military PE, which I have carried for the past 2-3 years. I just felt that it was time for a change and the S2K is just that when compared to the Millie.

From what I understand, the SERE was designed by Al Mar and Colonel Nick Rowe for the Army's SERE school in the 80's. I have done a search through all of the Bladeforums site but I'm still wanting more info on the performance of the SERE as a survival/SD blade.

What I'd like to know is if there is anyone out there that has put the S2K through real life survival techniques/treatment and how did it perform? Are there any other reviews on the net where I can find more info?

Thanks for your input.

I've batoned the thing through some log quarters for firewood. Survived without any change in lockup...edge is still perfect.

It's a damn tough knife.

Jeff Randall put it through it's paces in the jungles of S. America a couple of years ago. It was written up in, I think, Tactical Knives. They may have copies available. Overall impressions were excellent. Good luck with it.

It was in Tactical Knives and he, Jeff Randall, was so impressed that he said it was the official folder of his group/school.
