The Alamo

Me if it ever comes out!

It was supposed to open Xmass day, but has been delayed.

Anybody no why?, my theory is that they decided not to open on the same day as Cold Mountain.

From Yahoo! Movies http://movies.yahoo.com/upcoming/

"Release Date: April 9th, 2004 (wide)

Release Date Note: (3/7/03) Touchstone was originally aiming for a December 12th release date, but they have now pushed it back two more weeks to Christmas Day. (10/29/03) Touchstone has decided to push this movie back another four months until sometime in April, 2004, citing the need for additional time for postproduction. However, Jeffrey Wells of MoviePoopShoot.com speculates that the real reason "is probably that (a) research-screening reactions indicated the $80 million battle epic wasn't playing with target audiences as well as hoped (one complaint is that it's got some slow parts during the first hour), and (b) it was therefore decided it would be commercially unwise to release a dicey-looking entry during the super-competitive Xmas season." (10/31/03) I've received word that Disney is aiming for an Easter release, which might be a release date of April 9th, 2004 (Good Friday), but that's not confirmed yet. (11/28/03) April 9th is confirmed. "

I won't rush out to see it, but I'll catch it at some point. I've lived in Texas for a long time and had never visited the Alamo. Finally, I tagged along with my wife to a convention in San Antone and her hotel was right across the street so one afternoon we made the pilgrimage. I was surprised at how moving it was and would recommend it to anyone who is in the area.

I'm there. I saw the History Channel special on the Alamo and the accompanying preview of the movie. I'm anxious to see how close the truth this movie comes.

I don't live in Texas but I did go to San Antonio last year to see the Alamo. It is was definitely worth visiting. San Antonio is a pretty town as well, with other things to see in addition to the Alamo.
