That lets you know you forgot about a pocketknife. Anybody ever have it go off? It sounds kind of a couple padlocks in a paint can rolling down a hill?

I missed it once. Came to get my dry laundry out and found one scale of my Benchmade Mel Pardue auto. Then the blade. The other scale. Couple screws. Found a couple parts in the lint trap.

Never found the blade stop pin. Found a drill bit the exact diameter. Cut and ground it for a perfect fit. 25 years ago. Still works perfectly.
:)

I've had knives and pens go though the wash but none self destructed. Sorry it happened to you...

I've accidentally washed pocket knives before, but never have they come apart like that though.

If you accidentally wash a nail or a drywall screw. It will find a way to stick in one of those little holes and if it long enough will cut the plastic outer drum in half during the spin cycle.

I've had several knives go through the wash cycle. None suffered any damage.

Wallet, keys, never a knife. Almost washed the cat once. For some reason he thought it a good idea to hop in the washer when I wasn't looking.

I hear stories of knives disassembling themselves in the wash, but none of mine have ever done that. I guess I've been lucky.

Like others have said, I've put a few through the wash a couple of times.
I've not had any damage to the knife.

I've had multiple knives go through the wash, never and damage though, I'm a surprised the yours came apart like that

I’ve had SAK Pioneers go through with no issues. More times than I care to admit. The usually stay in the pocket.

The Benchmade was, I’m sure, clipped on the waistband of my jeans so, it got loose for the full ride.

I just guess the heat and vibration was too much for the Locktite on a screwed together knife.

My inexpensive Kershaws were screwed together.

[Insert Benchmade joke here]

I've had multiple pocket knives go through both the washer and dryer over the years, as well as one AAA flashlight that has made about 3 trips and still works just fine.
I've never had anything self destruct due the exposure. But then none of the knives has been an auto. So, there's that.
