i have been in the process of making a framelock for alphahunter. we started talking and began to unfold a crazy idea. id let him design the knife and id build it. this is most makers nightmare, but i found it to be quite fun. of course it helps when the client is a nice guy who is amped about the project.

first were his blade idea drawings. bare with me here he is an aateur artist with an idea.

after getting this drawing, i asked for a more detailed drawing of only the blade and said i would make the handle accordingly. this is what i received

i figured i could work with that. and decided the best route would be with 3/16ths m4 steel. this is what i came up with.

it looked really good. so i started on the handle. it was to be a framelock, so i stuck with a handle design i new and went from there.

Looks like it's gonna be beefy. :D

Thanks guys! I wanted to design something that can take a beating and be beefy yet slice. I Love my TAD Strider SMF and my ZT 300's size. I'm going to pull a Thomas from Kershaw and hold off on the scale pic for now. Lets just say its the most wicked scale I have ever seen!!!! Also, Peter has something special lined up for the Ti handle!!!

Stay Tuned!
PS Excuse my drawings. I suck at drawing but Peter got the idea ;) REEEK gave me some good feedback as I was designing the blade. Thanks buddy!

its pretty fun! and some of my greatest inspirations are the tad dauntless series of knives. "elegant beaters" i call them. maybe one day the folks at tad will ask me to do a dauntless rendition....my dream. and beefy is right at .21 the ti frame is probably the thickest framelock youve ever seen lol!!

I guess you are gonna make a belt sheath for it too. :D

Looks like it will be around 12 Ounces or so maybe more. :D

How about a future rendition with 0.100" thick titanium and NO lock-bar cut-out?:)
That's be pretty beefy too.

It will happen brother! I have a gut feeling ;) Im gonna post this on the USN

Have you seen the Kingdom Armory Dauntless?

i love all the dauntless, but my favourite is the rexford. it is my all time favourite knife. i had the chance to get one once but 3000$ was out of my range. and stabman, i dont understand the .10 ti no lockbar thing? ive been making some "frinerlocks" half liner half framelocks. well actuallt they are technically linerlocks but with .120 ti liners they can be considered framelocks.

It would have a lock-bar, just no thinning out for the bend.
Basically like the "frinerlock", but without a scale over it.
Thin, light and beefy all in one.:)

thats what i thought. but the working max for a non milled linerlock is approx .07-.08 thick any more than that and the pressure required to open the lock would break your thumb. id be game for some .08 linerlock versions.

and wait till you guys see the scale for this bad boy! here a little teaser ;)
