I'm not much of a "flashaholic," but I appreciate a good flashlight like everyone of us gear-heads. A year or so ago the CR2 Ion was the rage, the in-thing among light afficionados everywhere, it seemed. Now, it seems that you can't find one anywhere. The Photons International website is nonexistent and there is a CR2 Ion site that has been under construction for months now. I wanted to buy one of those little guys back when they were hot, but never got around to it because of the price. What's up with this light and the people who make/made it? Was it really worth it? Can you still buy one new? Fenix-store.com has them listed, but they don't seem to be offering them for sale. Any candlepower-type guys out there know what's up?

I bought mine when it was all the rage. When I got it, the battery rattled and I didn't think it was worth it for the price. I eventually ordered a kit from a gentleman that remedied the battery rattling. BTW, I bought directly from their website. I feel that the Orb Raw NS is a better deal.

Thanks for the response Mauiblue. For $150.00 you might expect to get a light that's next to perfect, not requiring add on kits to stop battery rattle.

Agreed. I sold mine and got a Raw NS.

The CR2 Ion was not as well built as you might think, many of them flickered during level changes.

Forget the Ion, get the NS.

I bought my CR2 Ion because I was into collecting certain flashlights at the time. I have a few SureFire torches and that pretty much satisfied my appetite until the Ion hype. Never again will I splurge on something like that again. BTW, I have it hanging right here next to my computer to remind me of my stupid buying ways...
