I've had my original tracker since 2004 or 2005 and I've put it through a lot, but in my experience it never lived up to the hype. The edge geometry was horrible, the ergos on the handle weren't great, and my overall impression was that of a short dull hatchet. I was really disappointed in the grind angles too, especially where the draw knife and chopping sections of the blade came together. Retention on the sheath is practically nonexistent.

I just got my hands on the APO-1T from Survival Lilly and I think I finally have a tracker style knife that might live up to expectations. The grind lines are beautiful, the edge geometry is wonderful, and the sheath has excellent retention. I haven't put it through its paces yet, but damn she's pretty.

Never liked the Original TBJ, Jr. Tracker, but this new incarnation looks like it will perform as promised. If it didn't, I am sure SL wouldn't have released it with her name on it. Big difference in grip length!

Keep us posted.

***The big question is, is the design concept of the Tracker as such really useful or not. I'm in the "rather not so much" camp - a larger-in-length than the Tracker knife would be my choice.

The new model does appear improved in edge geometry, over the original .

But , just for my use and purposes , the "Tracker" style is too much a multi-purpose item .

As usually for such tools that try to do too many things , it can't really do any one thing very well . Just IMO . 👎
