I just got my The Artisan Cutlery Tactical Knife Proponent Folding Knife in, and I gotta say that I'm really impressed. This thing really is a beast. Admittedly, I have not had the opportunity to put this knife to use, but this knife seems very capable of a variety of tasks. I am not crazy about the D2 steel because it is prone to rust - at least in this moist climate region. However, the S35VN version costs over 3X as much. I'm looking forward to putting this thing to use... it's quite a knife! If anyone else has had any experience with this knife, I'd love to hear about it - good or bad.

I got one as a gift last year...

It's a ridiculously large and cumbersome knife considering it only has a ~4" blade, with an uncomfortable handle and weird ergonomics.

If it wasn't a gift, I would have sold it.

It's certainly a knife shaped object... in a very loose definition of knife. Glad you dig it, OP. Definitely not a knife I would choose. Also looks like it would take up A LOT of pocket space. The Ahab series or Andromeda series are far more appealing and look more pocketable, as well.

I ended up with one of the brass-handled ones. I suspect it would do as much damage closed and thrown as it does as a stabbing instrument, but have not verified.

I thought the screw-in pin to lock it open was an interesting addition. It doesn't exactly scream confidence in the liner lock.

I've got 4 of them, 2 of the large version and 2 smaller versions.

Its a beast of a knife. The larger version is big but not unmanageable at all. The copper model weighs in at 18 oz but because its a lot wider than it is thick it carries well in the pocket of a pair of jeans. I don't find the handle to be uncomfortable, but you do need to get used to the shape. Its one of those things where if you've never had one you can't really judge it because of the way it looks. As to the steel, no corrosion problems so far, and it takes a really good edge using just a Norton red India stone and a ceramic block.

Well, that's great news because I plan on using it.

Strange-looking knife -- looks like the blade was snapped off, like my Olfa, only a lot bigger (and more expensive).
