Sorry it took so long to get these pics up TL… been a little crazy work wise.

Picking up where we left off…
the blade shape and size of the ASH-1 and the SFNO are pretty much the same.
The ASH-1 has more of a drop point which shortens the length a bit from that of the SFNO,
and the SFNO has a longer ricasso, handle and pommel making it longer overall by a
little less than an inch. The grip difference in the two when you grip as far back on the
handle comfortably, only buys you about a half an inch more with the SFNO.

My preference… the ASH-1 (LE the best)… much more comfortable in grip, more compact…
and I like the look of it better. I like the drop point style on the ASH-1s… just cool looking to me.

On with the pics…

In these 3 shot the blades are lined up at the choil…
the first pics shows the difference in the drop points and difference in blade lengths the best…
the other 2 show the similarities in the edges.

In these 2 shots, the angle and distance between the blades exaggerate the differences, but you get the idea.

On a side note… I really like how the linen tiger hide is aging on my ASH-1 LE user. :D

Thanks for looking.

that SFNO is damn sexy, and since your preference is the ASH-1 LE then i guess you wouldn't mind sending me the outlaw . . . .
great pics

Thanks Lil foo.
I already have an ASH-1 and really want a SNFO but If it is realeased again it sure won't be anytime soon, so I think I'll pick up a HR

THe tigerhide on the le is the nicest handle material to me by far.

Why is the SFNO so expensive again?

Oh yeah cause we all want one of em too!

Foo, great review and pics! You're now on my "wanted" list with such a sexy SFNO

Thanks a million Lil' Foo! That was awesome. Excellent pics. They are pretty darn close in many respects.

As for the ASH1s: The only difference between the LEs and CGs is thickness, correct? And of course price and preference, performance, etc... But dimension wise they only differ by thickness? Right?

Thanks again Foo!

You're welcome TL...

Fantastic work, interesting comparison and simply terrific knives! I really love that snake SFNO. You know, I think that might be my current grail knife?

That SFNO, pretty much like all the NO's would benefit from a butt grind.:o

Just seems to bring everything into balance.

I must say - my SFNO seems a PILE bigger than my ASHLE. I guess I'll have to go chop em and see which one SEEMS bigger. For mid-size, the ASHLEy gets it. But if I HAD to choose one, I'd stick with the SFNO.

Lil' Foo thanks for the pictures, nice blade you have there, now I really want A SFNO badly:D:p:)

In the Fusion series, I think these are the nicest I've seen.

The scales on the ABA aren't exactly slouches either.

When JohnTheTexican sells me back a certain SJTAC in snakeskin, I'll be able to sleep again. :D

Or, if you want a nice fat piece of ASH, go for the double cut! Mine's over .3" thick range, will have to dig out caliper and pic's when I get home. This one has the black & tan mage on it, quite a handfull but what a knife!
