What is this? it's just that i was looking around, tried to go to it and got a password screen, which politely informed me that i couldn't get in... what's the deal?

The "Back End" is a place for moderators to chat. It's password protected so members don't log on and become so bored because there's nothing going on there, that they fall asleep at work and get in trouble with their supervisors.
