Dear Members,

There have been some who were asking about the origin of the ETAK Knife and some of its design features. Well, ETAK is actually a cover name. The actual name is the SCAR Knife. I designed the knife to compliment the SCAR rifle by FN. Fabrique Nationale is one of the largest military weapons manufacturers in the world and they came to Emerson to design a knife that would epitomize the shape and feel of their rifle. We couldn't use the SCAR name until all parties had agreed that they were good to go. Well, we are good to go. They love the knife and they want a second iteration to go with the SCAR Light rifle also.

So, there will be the original ETAK size for the SCAR Heavy and a slightly smaller version for the SCAR Light Rifle. I really think I did a pretty good job of tieing the knife to the rifle and I really believe that it is one of my best tactical designs ever. Our union with FN will debut at this years SHOT Show and two signed prototypes will be available at the FN Website.

So now you know.

My Best Regards,

Ernest R. Emerson

I was in the process of ordering one on the EKI website when my wife barged in and shut me down.

Drat...foiled again.

This is a nice knife, and it does look like the perfect compliment to the SCAR. This one is definitely one for the pocket. I'll be looking around to see if I can get ahold of one of these. Thanks for the story on these.

So I'll need to buy a SCAR to go with my future ETAK-A? Thanks a lot Emerson! :)

Cool back story, must say I do enjoy FN's guns. In the future will the production SCAR knives have the FN logo on the blade like those pictured?

The sling attachment point on the stock and the lanyard hole is a nice matching touch. It has enough similarity to be complimentary without being hokey. Well done Ernest.

I just received the new Emerson catalog.. this ETAK looks awesome!!

I wish I could decide A or B??

Really a beautiful knife...
