I've come to realize that I tend to carry smaller slip joint style knives as backup blades more frequently than full-sized folders. These smaller knives are more practical in situations where a large locking folder would be impractical or socially inappropriate, such as when wearing lighter pants or gym shorts, or during events like church or business meetings. In fact, many of us often have a Swiss Army Knife or traditional pocket knife on us even when we forget to bring a dedicated folder. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the backup knife you carry—the one that never leaves your pocket and handles all your essential tasks. Let's discuss!

I do like a smaller knife sometimes not a Sak, but a df2 is about as little as I go.

I do carry whatever I feel the need, I don’t have any restrictions. The gym could be a Millie or a df2 same with church or work. Though I carry one no back up required.

My backup knife is an Alox Harvester SAK. Great implements, sturdy pattern without being heavy, and it's one of the few Victorinox models that come without that infernal keyring. Love it!

I can carry anything I want as well, depending on the pants though it can provide different kinds of limitations. Good choice on a Millie, I have been debating on if I should go for a Spyderco as my next folder.

There are plenty of choices for a spyder to join your collection. I’m a fan, I like all of them.
