Being that the holidays are upon us and food abounds in offices, homes, etc., I thought I'd start a thread about various "bacon foods" where people could say, "Hey, I've tried _______ and boy was it _________". Since I never ask someone to do something I am not prepared to do myself, I will start off.

A few months ago, I was in an ice cream parlor somewhere in Maine and they had bacon ice cream. It was more than just bacon flavored--it had big pieces of bacon mixed in with the ice cream as well. Now I love bacon as much as any of you, but when I tried that ice cream, frankly, I was less than impressed. I asked the girl behind the counter what customers thought of it and she replied that it gets mostly ho-hum reviews, that very few people like it enough to actually order something with it.

So, what other unusual bacon foods have you folks tried and how would you rate those foods?

the other day I made what I'd like to call a thousand-layer bacon omelette. unfortunately it was the egg that had a ton of layers and not the bacon, but it was bacon, so it was still good. fried a half inch thick slab of bacon, then repeat these steps about a thousand times: cover in an egg wash, set the egg with a but of frying

I think this one is called the "heart attack"! Take a beef hot dog, pack hamburger around the dog, wrap in your favorite bacon. Cook on grill! These are delicious, especially with cold beer!

Wow, that sounds great!

Had bacon wrapped little smokies today at the office Christmas party. They were a huge hit!

Moe's bacon bar. Its available in either dark or milk chocolate, and has hickory smoked bacon bits and sea salt all through it. Believe it!!!!!!!

Mars bar wrapped in bacon, dipped in donut batter, deep fried, dusted with cinnamon sugar. Instant diabetic coma.

Bacon Bomb is pretty killer :thumbup:

1) Weave together a bunch of thick cut bacon (cell phone pics do not relate the beauty and craftsmanship of this fine weft and warp :D)

2) Make a ground pork pizza (hot italian sausage cut from casing) on top of that, cover with diced bell peppers and onion, grated cheeses, bbq sauce of choice

3) Roll it all up, throw that sucker on the smoker, drink beer, remove from smoker, top with more bbq sauce, slice it up, go to town

- And if you're thirsty, a little jalapeno bacon vodka might do the trick

Hi Chris -

I too do the bacon explosion - but you have to go the extra mile and use a Krispy Kreme doughnut for the bun.....

You guys have seen/made/eaten some awesome bacon creations. I am glad that everything is well-liked too. It sounds like the bacon ice cream that I tried was the exception insofar as it wasn't all that great.

I also have seen chocolate covered bacon as well, though I have not tried it. I believe Ratfinkenstein posted something about it in a thread some months ago.

Not quite as involved as some of the other delicious creations here, but it is good. 1/2 lb bacon, tomatoe, cheese, onion, and an egg fried in bacon greese.

I thought my incinerated bacon jalapenos with cream cheese were good, but I'm seeing now that I have to expand my horizons.
