This years Blade show was awesome and the work that was there was some of the best I've seen in years

One artists work that really stood out to me was Claude Bouchonville

In a sea of makes struggling to stand out Claude's work cuts thru the waves like not many can

Truly a stand out maker and a hell of a good guy to boot

Here's is Claude's Koltan

I need one :)

Claude and Sam Lurquin developed this great pattern together

The handle Is made with bog oak

The guard is carbon steel with gun blue finish

The spacer is lightning-strike carbon fiber

Thanks for looking and watch for Claude's work..... IMHO he is awesome

I have asked him to send me pics on his pieces so look for more

You know Joe, I was never familiar with Claude's work until recently when he joined the CKCA and I'm a fan now.
My plan was to get by his table at Blade but every time I tried, I got sidetracked which so often seems to be the case.

Nice work, especially that Damascus. Interesting use of ancient bogg oak and modern LSCF together. It seems to work.

I thought I knew all about wood but bog-wood thousands of years old getting to the point of being a fossil someday?

Claude has my eye too. Not sure how he designs his patterns but flows perfectly.

Just reading a little about Claude's History.
Made a Damascus camp knife forged from an old .50 (BMG) Browning machine gun barrel found on a battlefield somewhere in Germany....Yikes
The Bouchonvilles have had plenty of time to learn their crafts. The first Homo Sapiens arrived in Belgium 30 K years ago.

Very unique lines and style without being awkward looking......that's not easy to accomplish.
The Damascus is insane:eek:

I concur on a counts, what a great package in design as well as materials!

I had been watching Claude's work for several years. I was kind of surprised that he wasn't getting much attention from the US. Maybe it just took him attending Blade so people could see his knives in person. A while back I had asked Claude about making a fighter for me. He told me about a new style he was going to make and sent a photo showing the blade. It was not a traditional profile, but unique and I liked it alot. So I was able to get one of his first Koltan Fighters.
This is a photo of mine. I love this knife and will always keep it. When I die it will go to one of my grandchildren. I consider myself lucky to own one of Claude's beautiful knives.

So fine.....i really enjoy the flowing lines and superb workmanship. :)

that is one great looking piece. Sweet flow, and I really like the dropped point. Seems to tie it all together.
I do like a polished edge on damascus knives, as opposed to the etch going all the way, though.
