to be hafted in figured American burl walnut with a wagon wheel tire iron, (fire blued) snowman guard. Don already wins "knife'o the day" but I thought I'd copycat'em and post these pics before I assemble the knife "sans glue". I'll drive on the guard and intend to hand rivit the escutceon and scales. Now I'll have to add Don to my list of "I wanna be like him" 's! (Just under Raymond Richard) :)

Mitch there's certainly nothing wrong with a desire to emulate either of those fine gents, but don't sell yourself short! That is truly fine. I love that wide dagger blade and cool guard. We don't get to see enough pictures of your work, so don't slack off. Keep em coming,

Dang Mitch, that's a fine looking knife, I would like to see everyone show their work here.

Ha! My stuff looks that good when its halfway done. I'm just really bad with epoxy....yeah...thats it  :p

Seriously, thats looking awesome. Can't wait to see it finished :D

That's really nice work Mitch. I like the fit up on the guard and the shape of the whole thing. Nice grind on the blade too. Great Job!!

Cool, don't see to many double edged bowies, and I for one love the wrought iron. And don't sell yourself short, thats an awsome knife.

She is looking Great so far!!!
I also like the wrought iron,in fact last week a guy had about a dozen hand welded rings in a load of scrap plus a couple still on a part of a old wooden wagon wheel these are the small rings just under a inch wide and 3/16 thick.I brought them home and they are wrought iron (cool) cut and straightened one the other night and got 26 inches of guard stock from it.This looks to be allot cleaner than the wheel iron I have been using lately.
Again Great looking Knife.

Mitch I woke up this morning thinking about this knife so rushed in here to make sure it wasn't a dream... Whew! You really did make it! :D

I'm working on blueing the guard as I write and hope to finish up pinning the escutcheon tomorrow at work and then I"ll post a picture of the finished piece. Bruce, you can beat some of the imperfections out of the stuff! what I've been doing for an interesting pattern is welding up a few strips into a square bar and then giving it a twist. Soon I'm to have my new "damascus welding only" forge ready and I'm going to try and weld in two thin strips of nickle. Hmmmm........
