Hi Guys,
As you all know im a BM junker. All I buy is BM knives.
Now I want to buy something new, but I have hard time choosing the right company.
I'll be glad if you guys will suggest some good companies other then SOG,Spy and Krew...
Thanks.

"Best" for what? All the big 3(Benchmade, Spyderco, Kershaw) have good QC. As for product use, their lines are so broad it's near impossible to declare what they're "best" at. Though I'll just put out that Kershaw does framelocks great:thumbup:. Spyderco does that great too, but they don't have as many of them.

As for as "best" for the individual, nothing beats a custom knife made to your specs.

+1 on the Chris Reeve Knives. Nowadays I usually only spend money on Spydercos and the odd Kershaw/ZT knives, but everyone on this forum IMO should at least have one CRK in their collection. Another brand I've taken a liking to is Mcusta because they are so damn classy at a pretty good price.

I would go for something completely different, since for example Spyderco and BM have several competing models.
For example, why not explore the world of Fontenille-Pataud knives? Very nicely made, and totally different from your Benchmade knives.

If you don't have alot of money to spend, take a look at what CRKT has to offer...I have quite a growing collection of the M16 & M21 models, and have found them to be very well-made and smooth. (If you have alot of money to spend on a new knife, give some of it to me.:D.:D.).

Look in the manufacturers forum, pick any of those.

Boker
Buck (especially phenolic fixed-blade models)
Victorinox
AG Russell
Canal Street Cutlery
Scandinavian brands: Helle, Ahti, Karesuando, Mora... Never gotten a bad blade from any of them.
Queen, particularly the File & Wire models
Becker

etc., etc., etc.

Happy shopping! :D

  • Kershaw - higher end stuff - or Zero Tolerance
  • Al Mar - arguably as good as Benchmade, but you never hear much about them.
  • Chris Reeve - gotta try one
  • Strider - see above comment
  • Lone Wolf - now part of Benchmade, but some different designs, often with wood handles
  • Emerson - not as well built as the above, IMHO, but the wave and ergonomics are worth a try
  • Mcusta - another little known brand - cool gentleman's knife designs, but the ones I've had have off-center blades
Other than SOG, Spydie:

Hogue, Chris Reeves, Strider, Buck, Zero Tolerance, Queen Cutlery, Case, Boker, LionSteel, Al Mar, Cold Steel, Emerson, Fallkniven, Opinel, Mcusta, Microtech, Protech

Agreed, but I think BM does something different from all the others, BM makes her knives so tough that they can last a lifetime, and to me that is quality right there!

Boker
Cold Steel
Emerson

just to throw something in the mix

Thanks, but I want to give you advice, never ever buy Cold Steel, I think CS is the worst company out there, lame service, lame product and bad vids, it seems like they sell there knives like a mall product.
