Came home to a little brown box:D Then I got to open it with my favorite knife, nothing better than opening a box full of knives with another knife.

Sorry for the close picts being a little fuzzy. Anyhow just wanted to share my excitement.

Ill be posting a review later, but Im giving the 1095 away as a gift, so Im not going to be doing a side by side compairson. Sorry.

For all the Rat 3 owners, need some help. The D2 fits so tight in the sheath that I can barely remove it! And Im no weakling. The 1095 is snug but comes right out. Is this normal?

Just measured them and the spine on the D2 is just over 5/32, and the 1095 is just under 4/32. Anyone else own both that could measure theirs? Do you think the sheath will break in?

Nice snag for sure! My D2 fits snugly, but I don't have any problems taking it out. I'm not sure how I would feel about that. I have no idea if the sheath will 'wear in' or not. It's a great knife, hope the sheath issue resolves.

love those rat-3s, ,,anyways yeah my rat-3 is d2 ,,,also had trouble with the sheath, ,,but just keep on breaking in the sheath,,,i have no problems now,,,:D ....i just kept pulling the blade in and out of the sheath ,,,seems to work much better for me now ,,,

On the belt. Rides nice! Not in the way at all and high enough that I can sit without it poking my hip or ribbs.

Oh my... that is excactly the kind of knife I have been looking for. I am ordering it very soon.

Wow. I really wish I hadent looked at this thread. Now I have to buy a rat3. It looks like a nice, compact fixed blade that I can take camping and fishing with me. It also looks like it would be handy around the house. I will probably spend the few extra bucks and get the D2 steel version.

Definitely a good day. For whoever gets the 1095 as a gift, too!

The sheath will break in. You can speed the process by rubbing a few drops of oil on the blade first.

Did a little back yard work out with it, picts and review posted in the wilderness survival forum.

nice score Wade.....thanx for the pics...i've got a D2 Rat3 and I'm impressed by it esp. at its price point....
I also like my Cocobolo Harsey T2 very much too.... ;)

At that price I may have to get one. For some reason, I'm not finding any information on the steel. What is it? 440A?

Yeah, I dont know what knid of steel it is, its probably not anything great. But they come hair shaivng sharp.

I know it can't be super steel for that price. I just hate getting a knife that I can bend with by thumb.
