I wen't deep intro the spring beech woods today testing out a custom blade I'm working on. I just grabbed some union, bell peppers, a hefty slab heavily salted butter and shoulder of grass fed ox. I slice up the meat an put it on a flat piece of wood right in to the mellow fire. The fire dies down and starts smoking. I leave the meat i fore 5 minutes. Slice the vegetables and ad some butter an put in an covered can on the fire. Cook until soft. Butter fry the lightly smoked meat. Mix and eat.

That looks good. How does ox taste? Like buffalo? Is that a common meat over in Sweden?

Back in the days when the oxen where traind ox meat might have been diffident but where i buy it from its pretty much free range male and female cows. The meat is so god that it can be eaten raw even though its a shoulder.

That looks great. It's like cedar plank salmon only with something that tastes better than salmon. :D

i just ate and i'm hungry again! can't beat food cooked with open fire with snow on the ground.

nice easy way of hot smoking, going to have to try that with kokanee fillets and sliced ribeye this summer at my acreage........4 to 6 weeks until thawed enough to get up north!!!!
