The best knife for me is a Spyderco.

I always carry a knife. Starting in the mid 70's it was a Buck 110, then I carried Case, Browning etc. In the mid 80's I started carrying Cold Steel, Benchmade and whatever was the blade of the day. When I first saw a Spyderco, I was not impressed, but did buy a few over the years. Then in 2006 I bought an Endura Wave and have been in love with Spyderco ever since. Now I own and rotate an Orange Military, Gayle Bradley, Endura Wave, Cricket SE, Harpy, Tasmin SE, and a Native that I bought at Spyderco in Golden. I grew up in Golden, CO about five minutes from Spyderco and got to visit the shop last year while visiting relatives.

The older I get, I just want a reliable knife that is affordable. Knives are tools and Spyderco fits my needs 100%.

Almost the same here. I carried SAK for many years. Than something triggered interest in modern knives. I found bladeforums researching cutlery steels. Within two month I went from Gerber to Emerson, from Emerson to BM, from BM to Spyderco. I started to EDC Spyderco in 2005. Since than I tried few other brands: Kershaw, ZT, BM, Mcusta, Moki. Almost all of them gone. Only Moki Glory sometimes finding place in my watch pocket and mostly due to slim profile and ZT561 lives on my desk, great knife, but I have few Spydercos, which fit my EDC needs better. My most used knife today is Native5. I always had soft spot for Natives due to great ergos, making them FFG brought it to a new level.

Hi Screwdriver,

thanx for sharing and thanx for the kind words. Glad we could please you.

I can't say that Spydercos are the best knives for me for the simple reason that I have a love-hate relationship with the Spyderhole. The Spyderhole is the easiest non-flipping opening mechanism I know of and I love it for that reason. But incorporating the hole tends to add a lot of width to the blade which causes Spydercos to consume more pocket space per inch of cutting edge than most of my other knives. That isn't universally true, of course. I carry a Centofante Memory from time to time and it's just fine. But as much as I like my Sage 2, it's a no-go for EDC.

give me a spyderco, some fava beans, and a nice chianti and I'll do the rest.
