THE BEST production folder, NOT your favorite.

Here's what I hope to be an interesting thread, I've read a lot of people comment on fit and finish and tempering and all that good stuff. I am very curious as to which production folder you consider the best, and why you consider it the BEST, based on everything BUT value of what you get for your $$$. (pretend they all cost the same). If you think one of them is an auto or bali, let me know which folder you think is BEST. Personally, in all of my folders, I would have to say that I love my Spyderco Bob Lum Titanium tanto the best, because of the blade shape, and the handle shape, and I like titanium. And it's finished REALLY well too.

The best just happens to be my favorite, too. The Sebenza. Flawless fit and finish. Rock solid lock up. Excellent edge retention. A design capable of handling any chore a folder can reasonably be asked to do. Top notch materials. It comes in a choice of sizes. I like the way it feels in my hand. Of course, these are just my opinions.

Since you didn't follow you own instructions ("NOT your favorite"), I won't either.

.

The best folder, and the one that I LOVE, is my REKAT Sifu.

.

I like the way it looks...(size, blade-shape, the G-10 scales, the "open-back" design, and the finger-grooves & "pommel"), and I like the way it feels in MY hand...(the "heft", and shape of the handle).

Actually, I carry it much less than a couple others I would sooner call my favorite. (SERE for instance)

My answer a week ago would have been any of my REKAT's but now I have to say my new MOD Dieter CQD MKII.

Finishing close to those would be the LCC.

Spyderco Military.

And this is coming from somebody who isn't a hole-in-the-blade fan.

Having said that, for me, the sebenza is probably the finest production folder around but the price is real deterrent for a casual user for whom "very good" is more than enough knife

The best and my favorite are one.
Sebenza. Anything less is just...less.

Since I don't use production knives, my best carry folders are... Andre' DeVilliers Pathfinder, and Chris Reeves Sebenza.

The Best and why I think so....
Up until about two weeks ago it was the Microtech SOCOM for its keen edge, good edge retention, extra fine tip, decent ergonomics, good lock-up, and its size.
Now, the best folder IMHO is the Large Sebenza Classic because it has all the traits that I like in the SOCOM, but takes the quality up a notch.

My favorite is a BM 721 but the best in production has to be a sebenza. Their production standards are at least an order of magnitude greater than most other production lines, rivaling hand-crafted customs. The tolerances on my sebenza are unmatched by any other folder I own.

Another vote for the Sebenza. Virtually custom quality in a production folder.(pretty much custom price, too)

I like the LUM tanto in G-10 with a black blade. It's built really well, and the materials are top notch. I have owned many different folders, but I think this one is built the best. The blade grind is also really nice. The thickness of the blade os constant from the handle to the point.

Sebenza. (edited to add reasons)
Blade shape is arguably the best suited for a variety of tasks. BG42 is one of the most user-friendly steels currently available. Frame lock is IMO the most secure locking method for folders. Fit and finish are simply excellent. Customer service is excellent. Resale value is excellent. AND...you can trade them towards Mayo TNT's!

Of all the production knives I have, the Sebenza is the best by a considerable margin. It also happens to be my favorite.

I'll add a second vote for the MOD Deiter CQD Mark II. It's funny, it's kind of a love it or hate it knife, but those of us who love it, LOVE IT. It's simply a great design, perfect size, incredible construction, super secure lock, etc etc etc.

Large classic Sebi! It's not my favourite as that is my LCC D/A. For today at least
