Got in a shipment today of mostly stuff that is special order but there was a noticeable improvement in the quality of scabbards and even an upgrade on the HI superfrog. These scabbards are the best I've ever seen come out of Nepal on a production basis. Top quality thick leather and worked by our new sarki from Udhaipur who says he is the best sarki in Nepal. He could be. I didn't want to say anything about him until I saw his work and was sure of what he could do. He can do it.

The scabbard in the picture is headed to forumite buoy and it houses one of the nicest 18 inch Sirupatis I've seen in some time -- made and marked by Sanu with what looks to be a walnut handle.

About half the scabbards were tooled with pix mostly from the tashi dili but I noticed a couple of yaks and a monkey on a couple of the scabbards. I was impressed.

I said I'd win this war eventually and I think I am on the downhill run now. Anybody who wants a great khukuri in one of the first tooled scabbards from BirGorkha email or call. I have maybe 3 or 4 that are not already taken by special order. I can finally say the sarkis have not been drinking! These scabbards are as good as the khukuris they house and I am pretty happy with them and I think you will be, too.

Dayum, but That Is Nice!!!
Perhaps the other sarkis will pay some attention now that they have ome competition.
The H.I. Khukuri's deserve such a home to keep them safe while waitng to be drawn again.

Thanks, Bro. I think the scabbards we sent over by US sarkis helped turn the tide. Especially when I threatened to start using US sarkis to do the scabbards and just have the blade sent here bare from BirGorkha.

There is always a way.

Khukuri FAQ

I cannot beleive this. I've been looking at all the pix from Mr. Powell and others in the khukuri FAQ, and searching threads in the archives to find information on tooled scabbards, and here they are right in front of me. In the future will we be able to order a khuk with a tooled scabbard?

Congrats on the victory, Bill. If that frog is fitting snugly as it should, it appears that the sarkis are using much thicker leather.

It's nice to know that I may have played some small part in my role as a "US sarki". Time will tell if the quality improvements will be lasting but things are certainly heading in the right direction.

...tooled with pix mostly from the tashi dili...

Please educate me. What is the "tashi dili"? TIA.

Hi All.

Bill ... What other Khukri's do you have (for sale preferably) that are housed in these wonderful scabbards?

Dave

I was greatly impressed by the jump in quality. I believe it is primarily due to hiring on the sarki from Udhaipur who claims to be the best sarki in Nepal. He may not be the best but he is certainly very good.

I noticed the nails we complained about in the karda and chakma holders were covered now. The frog is about 3/16 thick leather and the scabbard leather itself has gone up in quality a couple of notches and is somewhat thicker than before.

This is the scabbard I've been looking for. I am not sure if the tooling will become a standard for HI but I suspect it will appear on the majority of scabbards. About half the scabbards in this latest shipment were tooled and all were much improved.

I'll post a couple of pix of what's available later today after rehab.

Tashi dili are symbols taken from Buddhist texts which can be compared to our astrology signs here if I might use that very rough comparison without offending anybody. And, a couple are the same like the fish (Pices) you see below.

Now if the next shipment has the same quality scabbards we are off and running on the right track.

Thanks Brian and Terry for help!!!!!!!
